I was working one of my jigsaw puzzles on my computer today which happened to be the Tower Bridge in London, England. Now, I admit I have not really been all that familiar with London but I find it amazing how we learn different little tidbits about different things. Here was this picture of the Tower Bridge and I noticed that it was a drawbridge...this photo had the bridge drawn up. So I looked at the title and it said "Tower Bridge".
My next thought was, is the Tower Bridge the same as the London Bridge? So, naturally, I had to look that up and found out that they were, in fact, two different bridges and that the London Bridge is upstream from the Tower Bridge. I also found out that the Tower Bridge is near the Tower of London which gives it its name.
Now, I apologize for all you English out there for being so ignorant so far into my life (being 52 at the moment) but I love learning new things and you never know when or where or how you will learn something new. So...is London Bridge also a drawbridge? That is my next question. Drawbridges fascinate me. I just think they are sooooo COOL!!!
What have you learned lately that you never knew before?
