Depressive Suicidal Black Metal

Austere To Lay Like Old Ashes album cover -
Austere is a very excellent side project, these two members have made another great release, "To Lay Like Old Ashes" is a very great release, and this album reminds me of the great depressive black metal band "Xasthur", the agonized black metal vocals and the heavy depressive riffs have shaped this amazing black metal album. The artwork is very deep, it describes the autumn times of the human's lifetime, I am a great depressive black metal fan and I really like this release.

I am starting this topic for all the dsbm fans. The music of this genre is slower than typical black metal. It's very heavy and atmospheric. The singer ranges from dark, high-pitched black metal screams, to singing, even with some growling thrown in sometimes. The voice can be really raw and kinda sounds like someone dying, however it is still soothing, but maybe thats just me hehe DO NOT mess this genre with emo crap. This must be called depressive black metal but it chills you out, not making you cut your veins! I do love this genre and I would like you to name the bands you like in this genre! I will make a short list of mine :) Starting: Austere, Be Persecuted, Managarm, Sociopath, Xasthur, Lifelover, Imperium Dekadenz, Coldworld, Celestia, Forgotten Tomb, Lux Occulta, Sombres Forets, Sterbend, Make A Change... Kill Yourself, Wolves In The Throne Room and the list can go on! It's your turn now!
