There is no point in installing two AVs. Choose a good one to begin with.
If there are two AV programs running, it will slow down the PC and can even cause it to hang as each program may end up checking the other and get into an endless loop.

It IS quite OK to have two AV programs installed - you just should not allow them to run together.

Installing two anti-virus software programs won't cause damage per say, but they might have conflict issues that could seriously leave your computer unprotected in many ways.
I suggest the use of "Avast". I have tries almost every anti-virus out there because I am on my computer all the time and I need constant protection that I can depend on. Best of all the Avast home version is free.
The only other program I strongly recommend is "Tune Up Utilities". This program optimizes your computer performance and keeps it running smoothly and trouble free. I don't remember how much Tune Up Utilities costs but it is worth it!

It depends on your computer specs since anti virus software eats a lot of memory usage and needs a lot of hdd space for its updates. A lot of times you'll get a slow computer after doing so or can be a cause of a blue screen error. you can try to install both but make sure to make a check point date on your system restore so just in case something went wrong after installing both you can still revert bact to that system restore point. Also why would you need to have 2 anti-virus?

An anti-virus program tries to get elevated permissions to run in the way it is intended to work so it can terminate or stop a program from executing if it thinks that the program is infected. Viruses also try to do the same thing for doing bad things like stealing personal info, slowing down pc etc. If you install two anti-viruses then there may be conflict between the two antiviruses and they may consider each other as viruses. They may also slow down your pc. You should just choose one anti virus for your computer to avoid troubles.

Two antivirus together doesn't make any difference for virus but it definitely slow your system and also if you install two antiviruses which doesn't support each other then it will lead to damage your system. you can install symantec with zonealarm or AVG but if you try to install avast with quickheal or nod32 it will make your system permanent hang and you must need to remove one antivirus..
I had tried with Norton and Mcafee :D and as all guess I need to format system as Mcafee set up hanged while uninstalling.. and no chance to boot system in Normal mode..

First of all, what's your OS? I it's Windows 7, then you'll only need one antivirus, as it already has Windows Defender, which is pretty convenient. As for me, I also installed two antivirus for my notebook: The first one is Avira, and the other one is a local antivirus, to protect it from local viruses. I've been doing it since a year ago and that's quite fine and i don't have any serious problem with virus.
However, if you want to be totally free from virus, try Linux instead :P

there are some anti virus softwares that doesn't work together with other antivirus softwares. when you try to install them, they give warning that you cannot install two antivirus at the same time. yet there are are other antivirus softwares that can be installed together. that isn't bad. yet it is harmful to change from one antivir to another. preferably, use a single antivir. i suggest that you reformat your computer at least every four months.

I can't install two antivirus in my system, does not need to install two antivirus for virus protection. It will cause your computer working too slow. Use Panda Antivirus to protect your PC from virus. It is more reliable and efficient antivirus from the web.

It does affect your RAM and PC's performance, and it will slow down your PC. Still you can have two security softwares in one system. But I don't think there is a need to have multiple security softwares in one PC because one is enough. These days ESET and Avast cleaner are going pretty good. So you should go for one of those.
