Quoting Shakespeare

So Dearra and I were talking about whether she would like to go to the teen center after school instead of taking the bus home. And she wanted to know if it was just some sort of glorified extended day care for older kids. And I said I didn't know, but probably they would have activities that were more geared toward teenagers. She said that as long as it wasn't all about Algebra. So I said, "how about Shakespeare?"
And then I went to quote something, but what came out of my mouth was "four score and seven years ago"... Dearra and I looked at each other and busted up laughing. "Mom, did you mean to say 'to be or not to be'?" "Yeah that or something from Richard III. When in the course of human events... Oops." We bust up laughing again. "I meant to say 'a horse, my kingdom for a horse' or 'now is the winter of my discontent', but it just wouldn't come out of my mouth."
Have you ever wanted to quote something and your brain just wouldn't let you do it?

No I hadn't but then again it is from Macbeth. I hated Macbeth.
Hair, both ways are acceptable

Yep, that happens to me all the time..lol or in a normal discussion even I can't spit out what I need or want to say. Like my tongue and brain are disconnected at times. You and your daughter seems to have so much fun together. I wish I had that with my mom growing up.

Yep, but nothing comes to mind now.
There's been times I've said all but maybe
one or two words right of a quote, and it
just made it even funnier.

what's even funnier is if ya change one letter of certain words... not necessarily to make it dirtier, but by accident, and it still makes sense, but just funnily so.

All the time for me. You see, I'm a reader and there are a lot of things that are floating around in my head. There are times that there is a perfect quote to throw into a discussion, but it seems like I am always getting them wrong. Shakespeare is probably about the worst for me though because I can't remember all of the old English terminology.
As far as the teen center goes, I wouldn't think of it as a daycare for older kids at all. I know that they probably do some homework help, but also have activities as well.

I did get her to grudgingly consider going there on Fridays when she doesn't usually have so much homework. We shall see...

Oh, yeah I have. I have also had problems remembering names of people that I have worked with a lot and so on and so forth. I bet the teen center would be fun for her. Does she know what is going on?

I am terrible with names, usually not so bad with quotes...
yeah she does, but the twins don't.

Not very often. But then I very rarely if ever quote anything when others are around. However, I will occasionally say a quote out loud when I am alone. Often these are from Shadespear like maybe something rom Julius Ceasar, Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet. I also like to quote the first two lines of Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven and even sing them a little.

Quoth the Raven, "never more."
My dad has an animated raven. Used to drive my mom nuts.

Here is my big blunder with a saying! It is from Forest Gump. My favorite line is"Life is l;ike a box of chocolates. You never know what you will get!" Well instead of Chocolates I have known to say "donuts' istead! I don't do it on purpose! It just comes out that way! I have had other moments but this one is my best!

All the freakin' time, lol! And it's always at some crucial moment when it's time to look smart and not be ostracized (for a change) and your mind just goes blank! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! Memory is a fickle thing...

Hee hee. Did the coffee not kick in this morning? Hee hee. I know my mommy brain doesn't kick in at all at times. With me, it doesn't happen with famous people quotes. I try to tell my husband what my daughter said earlier and I'll forget her exact words were. I'll just remember that it was so darn funny!! Or I'll try to retell a joke and the words that come out don't make it funny.

A lot of times I e-mail or text just enough to myself so that I can remember a funny story. Otherwise, poof it's gone.

I have to say, this made me smile!
In our family we have a few famous [or should that be infamous?] misquotes . . .
but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one!
oops!

We've had a few too. If I don't remember to write them down more or less right away, they're lost forever...
