contraceptive pills makes you fat!

i started using oral contraceptive pills for about a year and I'am very much disappointed with my gradual weight gain. according to books it is due to fluid retention. it is very disappointing to see yourself in the mirror with those unwanted fats. i tried diet pills and exercise yet it didnt work for me. do you guys have other thoughts in ths matter? or could you recommend me any brand of contraceptive pills that wouldnt result in weght gain?
