Every team in the NBA has a shot for the NBA title... but with San Antonio's current roster, I doubt that they'll make it all the way to the Finals. They have been a playoff contender for a lot of years and I guess next season, they'd still be. But only as a playoff contender. Aging players, bench needs total overhaul and recurring injuries. They really need a big man who'd contribute offensively and defensively game by game .. as well as forwards too.. R. Jefferson has opted out of his contract by the way : here's the article : http://www.nba.com/2010/news/06/30/spurs.jefferson.ap/index.html .. So that clearly leaves the spurs a roster with aging and injury prone players and insufficient bench power. I hope they'd find someone to sign with them other than Tiago Splitter.

The small forward position will really hurt the spurs if indeed Jefferson will not re-sign to them, i think the Spurs would pursue of having Jefferson on the line-up.. no doubt about that...

I don't think they'd pursue Jefferson that much considering that he pours in his lowest averages in his career last season when he signed with the Spurs. He didn't contribute as well as the Spurs expected that's why they lost in the playoffs. They really need to sign quality players.

Yes. but they must have a center who is capable of helping Duncan in the paint.Looking at their chances, they cannot do it this time. They will be in the playoffs for sure, but they cannot match-up well on the Lakers.

Jefferson is still a spur.. he only wants long term contract because he is not getting any younger.

I think the Western Conference will be a bit close as there are a lot of good teams there and a lot of changes have been made. I guess that the Spurs won't make it to the playoffs next season for several reasons:
1. Core players are old
2. Core players are injury prone.
3. Jefferson abandoned them.
4. There will be a rebuilding process giving more minutes to young talent.
