There are many people using cell phone involving in illegal activities like taking video of somebody or taking photo's of others without taking their permission and it is really a bad trend and these people should be caught and give severe punishment.A these days such activities are increasing and most of the times it is the females who are getting effected more here. Can cell phone with cameras get banned? don't you think it is good if we ban cell phones with camera here on to avoid such kinds of trouble

hey dear... well, I wish if they banned such disturbing stuff but I don't think it is possible... we can't even report the person while picturing us! we don't have the rights to do that unfortunately.. the day before I have had caught somebody picturing me in campus while I was having lunch with my friends, but I couldn't take out his phone coz I don't have the right to do so having the camera is so cool if it is used in the right way!

@ alienstar awh my gosh that is so horrible!! yeah same here as I started getting worried too about my rights... I don't to whom should we report as the supposed responsibilities would keep on roaming us from a place to another simply to avoid having the responsibility!! today's world is getting really scary

@ diamania it is so scary to report as some people would turn to take the revenge by doing something worse than taking pictures..they could trace our movements to surprise us with their sudden comings or they could even do things to the family or to the dearest people in order to take the revenge if we happened to report against them no matter how right we could be! the world is getting so awful that we need to try on taking of ourselves and on everyone around us and to try never pay attention in order to get secured It is very much irritating but luckily nothing happened against me or any of my family or friends...hope things would go peacefully for everyone in this world...

Not being able to report people taking pictures? You have the right to control the usage of your image in a lot of countries and I can't imagine a country not having that right. Here you can even make a civil arrest if they continue violating your rights.

Hi alienstar, I live in India. In my state, Kerala, there was many issues of this mobile phone misuse and a law had been passed that no student under 18 years can carry with him a mobile with a camera. Moreover, there is a squad that regualry conducts raids in schools and colleges. I really don't like this because even if they find some pics like a group photo involving girls in our mobiles, we will be called for questioning.. I really don't support this law and I hope this will come to an end someday. Have fun. Happy mylotting. Regards, Ajith.

This is one positive thing you are saying, but i think it is only applied to students over there isn't it? are the normal public derived of this? can they carry cell phone with camera anywhere they go? i am really happy to know some positive direction have been shown by your government a d this has to be taken by other governments also and also some strict measures have to be implemented to other cases to stop it for ever

Yes. Only students. Imagine the situation of mobile marketing if a law that bans mobile cams strikes India. Moreover, since most of the citizens have already purchased enough camera phones, it would start a massive protest or something like that- since India is a democracy, you can't expect the govt. that banned camera phones to be back in action. Actually, the banning students is actually a good idea since the students have a tendency to deviate from the studies when they get a camera phone. But with adults, it's impossible. However if a woman feels that she's been photographed against her will, the person can be arrested on the spot(if the police is quick enough). And the punishment ranges from imprisonment upto three years or a huge fine or both. Not bad, right? At least, that's the most practical measure. Regards, Ajith.

mmh i never thought in these terms about camera phone but i think they won't ban it just for some particular motivations, you should remember that camera phone is not so common for criminal activities or privacy broken but even millions of people that use it good and having fun or good contents.

No they cannot get banned at least not in countries with proper laws ( In this example I will take Holland). Whether they should, I leave that an open question. I'll tell you why. Journalists have the right to carry a camera with them at all times, since mobile phones have cameras they're included, unless there's a good reason to forbid them, for example during football matches, exhibitions etc, however that falls under the private law. In the Netherlands you can make a photo almost everywhere you want. However if you're specifically photographing somebody you should better ask for approval. They can demand you remove the photo afterwards and if you don't comply you can get arrested. Recording or taking pictures zooming in on people's primary and secondary genitals is forbidden by law. So if a stairs is grated and you take a picture from underneath and zooming in on the genitals you're going to get fined and have the footage removed, sometimes you can even lose your camera/mobile phone. Police should arrest and fine people breaking the laws but politics shouldn't ban cameras. There's no valid reason for that just because they're a mobile phone.

I think countries should act on such things before these illegal activities get into worse mode effecting normal people like us.Sadly women are more effected as the seem to be the soft target wherever they go.It is really bad to see some one's illegal photo in a strangers mobile as these pictures pases on and sometimes it even appears in some of the websites for free access without those people knowing it.Isn't it disturbing news for anyone?laws have to be changed and culprits have to be booked fast

Sure people are punished severely for taking pictures like that. I wouldn't want to be recorded either. Nowadays they also have laptops with cameras and one guy in class was recording and I told him to remove it or I would call the police. He knew what to do: get rid of the file and cease recording... Some people really think everything is allowed.

Camera phones are useful and very good to carry, but we also see many of them mis using it and use it more for illegal activities also which is really bad and also dangerous trend now which has to be stopped at the earliest before it gets worse.Everyday there are complaints from people mishandling camera on such activities.Where is the solution for such problems then? how to solve it or good?

Hi Alienstar, It depends on the nature of the surroundings. If you are on a highly sophisticated and technology advance factory then this is applicable.

One can not ban camera phones because it has lot's of advantageous use like other members described above. The solution can be there must be siren tone attached with phone's picture taking an d video capturing, this will inform people around that picture is being taken or video is being captured.

What i can say is that even though the cellphones with cameras are banned the one who is misusing the technology will find an alternative way to do it....even though they get banned they will find another way...so the one whos doing things like that that should be siverely punished in such a way that no one even tries to think about doing such a thing again.....

No they will never get banned. That would be censoring.
