There are many places in Denmark that I like.
If I am looking for culture, art or museums Copenhagen is probably the most interesting place, because there are many museums, galleries and things like that. One of the museums that I liked a lot was "The workers museum" where you can learn about life in the 30's, the 50's, and you can see examples of the apartments where people lived in the past etc. It was a nice way to learn more about the history of my country. I was a child when I visited the museum for the first time, and I didn't understand all of the exhibitions, but I liked the place a lot and I returned as an adult.
If I am looking for beautiful places I would pick Silkeborg or Skanderborg. Those two towns are among my favourite. I have worked in Skanderborg, and I really enjoyed the many lakes and the parks.
What is the most interesting or the most beautiful place you have seen in your country? What did you like about it? Did you ever get disappointed in a place that you had heard a lot about?

Out of all the places that I have gone in the United States I would have to say that the Grand Canyon was the most awe inspiring place.

Being an American I too have been to the "GRAND CANYON". It is truly a wonder to behold. My father was in the military and with me being the oldest child whenever we moved accross country he drove and I was the co-pilot and we would make stops at points of interest when possible so I was lucky to get to see many wonders of America and other countries.

There are so many beautiful places in Britain I wouldn't know where to start.
Actually where I live is rather beautiful this photograph is the view from my front gate, it looks out over The River Lune and the mountains of the Lake District.
I had a lovely break in Copenhagen we adored the city - especially Tivoli Gardens!!

As far as the natural beauty is concerned, I think Pakistan has got so many places. I have been to Kashmir, Kalam, Chitral, Gilgit, Baltistan. Speaking of deserts, Baluchistan and Sindh and then the green lands of Punjab. Pakistan has got four weather seasons, and you can enjoy all of them at the same time in different parts of Pakistan. Valleys of Baluchistan are unforgeable!

Land is very scarce here where we live. Honestly I can't think of a place here which is totally untouched, unspoilt and virgin. But I do agree and I thank the authorities to have preserved some parts for nature and have developed some others to be better than what they used to be. For me some of these places here which I use to frequent are the Singapore Zoo, the Night safari and the Sungei Buloh Wetlands. Come and experience it yourself.
I'll surely think of Copenhagen, Silkeborg or Skanderborg if I have enough to visit one day.

I would like to visit Singapore. I have a friend who went there many years ago, but I have never had the chance to go there myself. Singapore is quite far away from my country, but I still hope that I will get the chance to go there one day. I wish I had more money to spend on travelling
The lakes near Silkeborg and Skanderborg are great places to go for a walk. I think it is one of the most beautiful areas in my country, but some of the small islands are also beautiful.

Hi Porcospino! The most beautiful place I've been in the Philippines is the province of Bohol! It is so amazingly beautiful. There are lots of old churches in Bohol, lots of scenery like that of Chocolate Hills and the Panglao Island. You can also see and meet the smallest monkey which is the Tarsier. Bohol is the best place to visit ever!

That sounds very interesting. I would love to go there. I think I saw a picture from the Chocolate hills once, it looked very beautiful. My husband and I once talked about travelling around in Asia for a while, it has been one of my dreams for a long time. We don't have enugh money for a trip like that, but maybe one day

Hello "santosma..."
Are you from the "PHILIPPINES"? I lived in your country four years in "OLONGAPO CITY". While in the P.I. I got to travel around a little and went to a place named "PAGASAHAN FALLS" in "LAGUNA PROVINCE". It was outstandingly "BEAUTIFUL"! It requires a canoe trip up river through the jungle over what I think was fourteen rapids if I remember correctly.
That was quite an experience and I really enjoyed it. The trip up takes about four to six hours depending on how much water is in the river. The trip back down river takes about two hours if there is high water in the river. What a thrill that was. Do you know the place?

Hello bigal3, I'm also from the Philippines, yes we have a waterfall named "Pagsanjan Falls" located in Laguna. I've been there once but it was really a long time ago. It's nice that you enjoyed our scenic spots here. If ever you come back, try and visit Palawan too. There's an island resort called "Dos Palmas" that's really lovely. This is the place wherein I can see schools of big fishes of different varieties by just snorkeling. I would love to visit the place again soon :).

in my opinion the most awe inspiring place that i have seen in my country is the taj mahal, not because of it's beauty but because of the fact that the people of that time were able to build something so big and beautiful without heavy machinery.

Hi abhik1099 and welcome to MyLot!
Taj Mahal is one of the places that I have always wanted to visit. Ever since I was a child it has been one of my dreams to visit India, and I hope that my wish will come true one day. I have a friend from India who has sent me many pictures from India, and some of those pictures were from Taj Mahal. I also think that it is an amazing thought that people have been able to build something so beautiful without heavy machinery. That makes it even more fascinating I think.

Hi "Porcospino"
I have to agree with you on that one. To me it is the most "BEAUTIFUL" building on the planet. I have read alot about it and I watch everything I can about it on the educational channels. before I leave this life I would really like to see up close and personal. It is truly "AMAZING"!

I adore the quaint town of Rye in East Sussex. It has a street made from pebbles and lots of delightful looking old cottages. At the top of the hill is a little old church. I liked climbing up the church tower to get superb views over the countryside. I used to go there when I lived in Kent.
Another beautiful place I used to visit when I lived in Kent was the White Cliffs of Dover. I liked walking along the cliffs and seeing the spectacular coastal scenery. Sometimes I cycled from Dover to Deal on my bike. I passed St Margaret's on Sea. I liked that pretty little pebbly beach.
Rye is the most interesting and the White Cliffs of Dover are the most beautiful.

That sounds very nice. I have heard about the White Cliffs of Dover, but I have never been there. I would like to travel around in Britain and visit many different places. There is a ferry from the western part of Denmark to Britain, but is has been years since sailed to Britain, and it could be fun to try it again. That would give me the chance to visit some of the places that I have only heard about

This is what I love about Britain, although a relatively small country it has such diverse landscapes in the varying regions from the flat fells in Lincolnshire and Norfolk to the mountains of the Lakes, Scotland and Wales and so many different and wonderful coastlines.

Hi Porcospino,
The most beautiful places that I've seen are not in galleries or museums. Where I live, my girls and I discovered a beautiful place when they were young that appeared to be untouched. It was way out in the middle of no-where. It was a beautiful stream with a small pool and waterfall. Just above the waterfall was a cave. It was breathtaking and it was our favorite little place to go to spend a quiet afternoon on a summer day. Actually where I live there are a lot of hiking spots that are absolutely beautiful. We have a lot of history here as well such as this place called Madam Chere's which is a supposed old brothel that burned to the ground in the 70-s. We used to party on the ruins and to this day all that remains is the staircase and the cellar hole. It's just cool.

Oops ...hit the send button too quick. We also have a place called Dracula's grave which is great to take someone to in the winter. All the graves in the cemetary will be covered in snow but not Dracula's! The name on the gravestone is Borus...(I forget the last name).

The most beautiful places that I have seen in my country are probably the lakes around Silkeborg/Skanderborg or some of the small islands in my country. Your favourite place sounds really beautiful and interesting. I also enjoyed your description of Madam Chere's and Dracula's grave.

I have been fortunate in my life to havebeen able to visit some of my country's most beautiful locations. For twenty-two years I lived in Hawaii, one of the most beautiful spots on planet Earth. Hawaii has a rich history of culture and beautiful places to go. For instance on Maui, the island I lived on there is a place named "HANA". It has some of the most "BEAutiful" plants and views I have been lucky enough to experience.
When I was a youngster I lived in Yokohama, Japan and there I remember the beautiful Mt. Fuji. What a mountain! It was really a sight to see its snow capped peak. During "CHERRY BLOSSOM" time in "KAMAKURA" the air is sweet with the aroma of the blossoms on the cherry trees.
In America, in the state of Washington there is a mountain named "MT. RAINIER" that is very much Mt. Fuji in that it has a snow capped top too and it is just as beautiful.
Yes, I have been very lucky to have been able to see some of the world's most beautiful wonders. What about you?

I have had the chance to visit many places in Denmark and I have also visited many other parts of Europe. We have many islands in Denmark (more than 400) and some of the small islands are very beautiful and peaceful.

I agree with you about museums. It is a great way to learn something about history or other topics. I especially like to visit art museums or historical museums. In my country there are some open air museums that I like very much. One of the them is in the city where I was born. You can walk around and look at the old houses, ride in a horse carriage etc. I have been there many times.

The most beautiful place I've ever been in the U.S. is Crater Lake in Oregon.
Now, interesting is a WHOLE other matter. I love the Anasazi ruins in the Four Corners area, including Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, Hovenweep, Canyon de Chelly (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah/Colorado and Arizona respectively.)
I honestly like driving thru the deserts and seeing the "bare bones" of the landscape, I think I would love to fly low and see the "typography" of the land.
I am also fascinated by water and water features, especially running water, or even dry stream beds where you can see where the water has been.
I was kind of disappointed in the Grand Canyon, I thought, while it was pretty when the rain storm was coming in, it was mostly just a big hole in the ground. I would probably feel differently if I actually had gone down in it.

Thanks for your response. I have never heard about Crater Lake or the Anasazi ruins. I tried to find some pictures of the two places when I had read your response. Crater Lake looks really beautiful on the pictures and I would like to see it in person one day. The Anasazi ruins also sound very interesting. I am fascinated by water as well, but I have seen a desert. We don't have any deserts in my country.

We have world's second largest salt mines in our country and i found it very interesting. They are in huge mountains and a complete city in there like a multi story skyscraper building. In there everything is made up of salt buildings, water lakes and complete train system for loading/unloading of salt from mines. The interesting facts about discovery of these mines is that peoples says when Alexander the great was passing through this area his horses and other animals of his force start licking the grounds and everyone was surprised why they are licking the ground instead of some green grass or shrubs. when they investigated they come to know that there is salt everywhere in the soil.
This is world's 2nd biggest salt mine and peoples across the country and out of country as well visits there.

Thanks for your description, you told me many things that I didn't know. The salt mines sound interesting, I have never seen one. One of the interesting things about visiting other countries than your own is that you get the chance to see things that you don't find in your own country. It sounds like a fascinating place, and I liked the story about Alexander the great.

I'm living in the Philippines and for me the most interesting place I've ever been to is the Subterranean River Park. It is most commonly known as Underground River. It's a river inside a cave and for you to get inside you need to ride a motorboat. Inside the cave are interesting rock formations. Stalagmites and stalactites formed a lot of interesting images. The most interesting one for me is the rock formation of Bethlehem in beautiful colors.
