Hello mylotters! I enrolled in swimming lesson and I can't do the whip kick swimming. My instructor told me that I have to do it wider and I do it wider until my groin ache but still nothing happen. I don't move no matter how many whip kick I made. Can you help me about this problem? Any tips and techniques you can share with me so that I can do the treading and breaststroke style.

inviteme, You may want to use some calisthenics to help you with your kicking here. I find it doing squats to be helpful in strengthening our legs for this kick. Half and full squats - 200 repetitions each. If you do not have the strength you may want to break into sets of 20 with 1-2 minute breaks in between. On the same exercise, if you cannot do 200 then you may want to start with 60-80 repetitions for a start. The next exercise is star jumps. Ideal load 100 repetitions. Lastly, the best all round exercise for this kick would be the Burpee. Ideal load: 150 repetitions. These exercise will not only strengthen the necessary muscles needed for the kicks but also the knees which can be injured when we exert too much strength with them. Please remember to moderate your load to your physical ability and before you exercise or swim never forget to stretch and warm up properly. Have a nice day.
