what is the best new anime that has come out this last 5 years?

Definitely Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The first one was great but this one is even better partially because it follows the manga instead of deviating off to something else. Code Geass is another great series from the last five years. It's great to see characters using their brain for a change. The Claymore anime was also good up until the last few episodes. The story was following the manga until that last battle scene. That kind of ruined things and it made the possibility of the show getting a second season kind of impossible. But those aside, I think my most favorite series would have to be Seirei no Moribito. It's a fantasy series with a strong leading female protagonist who can kick butt. That in itself makes this series up high on my list. It's a refreshing change from weak/useless female leads.

FMA Brotherhood is really great. I like Code Geass too. What about K-ON!? :)

Anime is a great anime. It use to be on comedy channel. It was humorous, and just plain wrong somethings. I am not sure if I am confusing the anime, anime with something else. I never understood the entire Japanese anime stuff. It's a little confusing.

well in the last 5 years I could say also full metal alchemist brotherhood. the first version was great but this one was way more interesting and amazing. Code geass is another super mega good story but I think that the law of equivalence won :-)
