well there are people claiming the 5s rule and such where if the food accidentally fallen to the ground for less than 5s you can still eat it. but for me as i am in the medical field, i know that it isnt true.

If its dirty I won't eat it. If it still looks clean I'll eat it.

Maybe when I was a kid, I did that kind of stuff. But as long as I can remember, I don't do that. I'm also in the medical field and I know that it's not healthy to pick up something from the ground and put it in your mouth. It already has contamination in it.

if there's no visible dirt or fluff, I'll eat it. if it's something that is okay rinsed under a tap I'll do that. too clean a life does nothing but harm in the long run.

hi o0hopk0o not me I worked in the medical field all my life, and just because we do not see the bacteria and viruses with our eyes does not mean they are not there and are also on that food you dropped. If you really want another head cold or the flu or even a staph infection go ahead take a chance, but for me I will not eat anything thats been on the ground. I like to stay well myself. believe me the bacteria and viruses and staph are there even if they cannot be seen with our naked eyes.

I would just wash it with running water and eat it. But if it fell on the floor of a marketplace or hospital or other places that are really filthy, I wouldn't eat at all.

Well, first of all, I would try not to drop anything in the first place! Genereally, the answer is no, if it doesn't need to be cooked then it would usually go in the bin, it's a huge waste, I know, and particularly if it can't be washed, so I am definitely careful woth my food and not to drop anything... :)

I never heard before about this 5s rule. When some food falls accidentally in the ground, I do the same that for the vegetables I grow in my garden or the mushrooms I pick in the woods : I wash them.
