I used to live in a third world country and it was one of the cheapest meal you can get. When I moved here in America, they don't like sardines. Americans mostly don't eat sardines and grossed out, I think. The Canned sardines company here closed down in 1950's after 130 years of operation. They used to but they don't eat sardines anymore. How could that be?

ugh I'm grossed out by those, really. My mom and dad used to eat those a lot when I was smaller and I was always thinking how could they eat such digusting thing..I mean it's their look, cause they're packed whole whith head and all the body organs...when I tried to eat them once and I saw guts hanging out of one I decided not to eat any of this anymore. so disgusting. I do eat tuna though, like this italian food brand, rio mare, I really love those, but sardines are a non no for me and if I'd be forced to eat them I think I'd be picking and inspecting every tiny piece on my fork longer than it would take me to eat them lol

Well many white people are grossed out by it so it is not unusual for you to be grossed out too. I just have a question, where did you get a sardines with the head included? Was it canned?

You can still buy them here in the UK where they are still widely eaten. We eat them both canned and freshly caught (then cooked of course).

I live in Canada and just LOVE sardines! The company that made them in California closed down, but we still have a factory in New Brunswick Canada that still packs sardines. When I'm on winter vacation to Texas USA I buy sardines packed in Thailand. They are very good and still quite cheap. Sardines are still eaten both in Canada, and in the USA!

i used to think that sardines are food of the rich people. that was when i was very young. i ate sardines just because i thought they were food of the rich people but because i really love the taste of sardines. but when i was all grown up already i turned to meat mostly. and not i am hoping to get back to sardines because of the health benefits of fish.

Sardines are just not an appealing food to me. I couldn't eat sardines anyway, shape or form. They can stay in the can. That would suit me just fine. if someone could offer me a great way to eat them, i could be persuaded to change my mind.

I normally wouldn't eat sardines in a can. However, if the only thing I had to eat was sardines, then I of course would do my best to eat them. It think that people just don't like them because they are not appealing. Visually, people don't think that they look tasty, and they may also be pretty salty for some people.

Just a bit of fact, that there's no such thing as third world country anymore. Countries which do not belong to the so-called first world countries (now called DEVELOPED COUNTRIES) all fall under the DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. =)
Before, I really don't eat sardines in a can. But I've learned to like the spicy flavored sardines. Anyhow, I don't know why they stopped producing those in the US, health hazards perhaps? As a former food technology student, I've learned that canning of foods is the most difficult way of food storage due to its being prone to Clostridium botulinum which is a very deadly microorganism. Maybe that's the reason why canning was stopped? =) Maybe someone would share light in this topic. =)
