Why can't we remember our Dreams sometimes?

Sometimes we sink in to a deep slumber and dream a beautiful and elaborate dream that we sometimes refuse to wake up. However, to our dismay when we get interrupted in our sleep it may be hard to re-connect or continue the dream, and sometimes we totally forget about the beautiful dream. Why can't we remember all our dreams 100%? Why can't we always get back on the dream from where we left off?

haha you are desperate of continuing your beautiful dream well who will not be ;) for your question my answer will be if you had a dream of something beautiful thats nice but dreams are just mixture of some thoughts and for remembering them when we are awake it depends on how our brain works on that particular part and if you think your brain doesnt have a record of your dream then you are wrong brain is the mightiest hard drive in the world . We cannot format it we can load data and can try to remember or find it . You can remember if you try too . And if you want to continue you dream try to think of the dream which you had after remembering it . This will help you but a dream will always be in your favour . You can do anything in your dream its just like an imagination with closed eyes . Happy mylotting

I think its becouse a dream is not in the real wourld, so when we wake up we are in the real would. In conclutiion we are aware of our true presence, so we forget it and only remember a little bit if we try.

Sometimes I can continue the same dream. It depends on how suddenly. I woke up and how easily i fell back asleep again. thanks for your sharing.

It happens to me too. I think because our dreams are in our subconscious mind. When we wake up, our mind is occupied with the things that we have to accomplish.

It depends of the stage of our sleep.

Well....i can't remember anything about a dream.when i wake up i don't remember anything!it's like shutting me off at night.... The answer to the question is because we dream with our brain and once we wake up we interupt the activity.and then you have to dream again....and this is imposible

because of them are involuntary brain activities, more often random thoughts, i have read somewhere that the most the dream we have when we wake up more or less 10 seconds of it is what we can recall.

Yeah, no matter how much we try, we can never go back to where we left off, and it's so disappointing specially if it was a really good dream. Hehehehe. Dreams are part of our subconscious so maybe we can try to dream it back again. Hehehe. I have dreams like that, like old tv show reruns, and when I dream them again, I know that it's a dream already and I know what will happen in the end. Hehehe.

You know what I actually don't know and have been always thinking why can't I remember my dream. Like last night I had a dream, but I couldn't fully remember it and my alarm clock woke me up. It's so weird how things like that happen. Oh well I guess thats how dreams are supposed to happen, but then sometimes they do come back. I guess when you keep dreaming a dream over it's trying to tell you something and it doesn't want you to forget it's really weird how that happens.

I wish I knew the answers. Countless times I wish I could still dream on, but when I finally get to sleep, I don't dream (or can't remember my dream) at all. Sometimes I dream about something great and when I wake up in the middle of the night, I make a mental note to remember the dream, but when I wake up in the morning, I totally forgot my dream. There are times though when I can control my dream. I know I'm dreaming and I control everything in my dream, how everything turns out and it's great!

I don't know the answer to this question, but i'm interested in finding out. I just seen Inception yesterday btw i personally didnt like the movie. But that movie made me realize that you never remember the beginning of a dream, but you only remember the middle or end. Which was correct after i thought about it. But to your question im not sure of the answer to your question. Maybe it is separating reality from dreams which is why we can't remember. idk, good luck finding your answer though!

From my understanding, some seem so real that the neural links created in your brain may have a similar structure to neural link of real (experienced) long term memory. This could be a danger when attempting to differiate which of you memories are real or not and can cause madness in certain individuals. Therefore your brain must have some kind of mechanism which erases (like a temp folder) dream information which is too similar to real life memories.

There are a lots of dreams that maybe we don`t remember after sleep. We dream at least 7 dreams per night, but i personaly remember max 3 of them, but not in details. I think we don`t remember because maybe the dreams were short, or maybe we were disturbed by something, or someone, or we wake up suddenly.

Why can't we remember our Dreams sometimes? Answer: Perhaps the dreams we had stored momentarily in our brain or it was kept within certain area where our brain can't reach it to recall for the dreams event. By the way, we shouldn't be worry about the dreams we couldn't remember. They are just our desires in life which we brought into sleep.

Sometimes I can continue the same dream. It depends on how suddenly I woke up and how easily I fell back asleep again. One of the first times I accidentally stumbled into a lucid dream (being aware of the fact that you're dreaming inside the dream) I ended up waking up pretty periodically when I reached a situation I didn't know how to change or fix inside the dream. I woke up for a few minutes and then I feel asleep and I was right back in the same dream again. It's something that happens by accident, and I think it has to do with the fact that you were thinking about the dream when you fell asleep. Your mind created a new dream that was almost exactly the same and picked up where the old dream left off. Why can't we remember our dreams all the time? You actually can, but it comes with practice and you usually have to be looking for it. I think that since we sort through memories when we sleep, when we wake our dreams are reviewed and often discarded because of their blaring contradiction to actual reality. But when you spend more time thinking about your dreams, writing your dreams down, talking about your dreams, your brain will recognize that you want to remember your dreams and will keep the information because it will be deemed important. I remember most of my dreams with about as much detail as I remember day to day life in reality, but I had to practice for it. There are very few nights where I wake up and can't recall my dreams at all.
