I know that is a stupid kind of question but I have only played simple games so far and used the keyboard and mouse, I have a controller but it looks like it plugs into an audio card. Do I need to install an audio card or can I use a usb controller?

If you want to use a controller from a video game system(Playstation, Xbox, etc.) you can buy a USB adapter to play with those controllers on pc. There are plenty third party controls made specifically for pc, but quality is an issue. They either have sticky buttons, poor response rates, stiff directional pads, or poor build quality in general. If you already have a ps2 controller, buying an adapter is really your best bet. http://www.1topstore.com/product_info.php?language=en¤cy=USD&products_id=532

Thank you for your input. I think I will go with the ps2 controller and just install a card if necessary.

You probably need to find the right place to plugin. You can always buy another one like these: http://bit.ly/arVwS3

Thanks, I can see now that I will just get a usb controller. There is a thrift shop about a mile from me with bins of controllers. They should have one. I don't want to put a video card in yet because when I do I am getting new speakers and all.

I think it differs while you play kinds of games? For example,if you play FC game like supermario you need a simple gamepad,But if you play NFSU,probably a steering wheel

I used Philips Wireless Controller for PC. It features built-in software that emulates keyboard commands for smoother playing. Dual vibration motors with unbalanced weights provide vibration when activated by the game. Fully pressure sensitive analog sticks and directional pads.
