Dear Mylotters,
The first time I got my driving license was during my high school time back at my hometown.
After that, I never drive again and my driving licens is expired too.
This is happened almost more than 10 year ago.
After got married and settle down at my husband's town, I decided to learn driving again.Since I lose he skills and no valid license, I have to go through the
process as a beginner. Learn both practical and theory.
I even have to attend the class and go for examnination in order to get my Malaysia
driving license. It is not easy.
I am so happy that I passed the exam and at last I got my Driving license. It cost me almost RM1000 for the whole process.
After getting my driving license, I slowly drive myself with my husband'a accompany at my housing estate area. I am still phobia to drive at night,as time pastby, I manage to get out from this phobia.
I am now driving myself everyday even day and night.I definitely enjoy driving.
Do you drive yourself? When you get your first driving license?

I am driving since highschool. I have my license for more than ten years now. I still drive for my parents even though I am married. I drive for them when they have to go to the province from the main city. That is about 240kilometers and we do that back and forth. I like driving too especially in expressways where there are no traffic.

I took drivers ed when I was in school. But really never got behind a wheel again til I went in the Army.
When I got married my husband finished teaching me to drive.
Then been driving ever since.
Drove Medic Gamma Goats as they were called during the 80's
I had a blast doing that when I found out it would drive on a side of a hill.
The colonel running the company thought I was crazy but he laughed at me for having fun with the tank like Emergency Ambulance.

Hi shia88, really glad to know you have passed and got the new driving license again. It's wonderful as well you don't have any phobia to drive even in night time Yeah, it's really a great fun we could drive ourselves, for we can go anywhere at anytime as we don't have to depend on other to drive us there.
I love driving therefore I learned to drive when I could afford to pay for the driving course and exam. Yeah, it's after I had got my first job after my graduation long ago. That time I didn't own a car. My elder had one but he didn't allow me to drive it alone. It's obvious that he was afraid that the vehicle might damage for I's still a rookie He always complained me this and that sitting beside me while I drove his car. I always grabbed the opportunity to ride his car when he was having vacation or in service course in outstation.
We bought our first car after marriage. Though it's a second hand car it's still in its good condition and served its purpose really well. I have great fun in driving therefore I'm always the driver. My husband's working office is nearer to our place. I drive to my office alone after dropping him. I fetch him on the way home. We enjoy having fun riding on our car to the different nearby villages or beaches during weekends or holidays.
Have a nice day!

Hi,
I also love driving and I agreed with you, I dislike
depend on other people.Prefer to be independent.
Thats make me have the determination to learn driving
and I am so glad that I passed the exam.
When i first drive a car, I am so nervous and scared that I
will bang other people car. I drove very slow with my husband
accompany. I drove at my neighbourhood, then slowly i try to
drive out to more crowded place.
Then there is a day whereby I make myself out from the scareness
and drive alone. Still bit nervous ,but I did it.
From that time onwards, I told myself nothing to be scared about.
Just do it and now I can drive even day or night time.

I've had my driver's license for about 16 years now. I drive every day, whether I want to or not. Right now, I am the only one in my household with a license and as a result, I am the one who does all of the driving for my family. As much as I really do enjoy driving, there are times that I wish I didn't have to do it all.

Hi,
Wow...cool, you are doing the driving for your family.
I guess it maybe a busy day for you since you are
the only one in your household who has a driving
license.
I also do enjoy driving....don't like to depend on my
husband all the time. At least, I can drive myself to
whereever place I like to go. More freedom.

I didn't get my license till I was 50 years old. I drove for about a year and decided I couldn't take it anymore. I'm just to nervous and afraid of the the other drivers on the street who don't follow the rules. So I still have my license but my daughter is the one who drives me around when I need to. I know if I had gotten my license at an early age I wouldn't be going through this but this is the way it is. Plus if I was still driving I wouldn't be able to drive at night at all. I have night blindness.

Hi Lelin,
At least you have your driving license and know how to drive.
During emergency, you still can drive yourself.
It is good that you have your daughter to drive you around when you need to.
For me, I can't always depend on my husband.
Therefore, I am very eager to learn driving after married with him.
It is so much more convenient for me to drive myself,I don't
like to depend on someone.
Wherever I want to go, I can just drive the car out.

Yes the convenience of driving yourself is great but not when you are so nervous like I am. I don't want to cause an accident. I only go out when my daughter has also go out. She doesn't have to make special trips on my account. I make it convenient for her.

I don't care where you live, driving at night is scary. I hate driving at night! I will drive at night but not pleased with the prospect.

Hi,
I agreed with you, night driving is more dangerous.
I do both day and night driving.
During day time, the sky is bright and I can easily see the road clearly.
But during night time, sky gets dark and I can drive based on the
spotlight from my car. Sometimes, I can't see the blindspot too.
So it definitely need more attention and eyes' strength if I were
to drive at night.
I hate to drive during raining time....especially when there is thunder
and lightning everywhere.So scary!

I got my drivers license recently, but am scared to drive. Since I do not have anyone who is experienced enough to accompany me I am not able to use my car. It is a beautiful new car and I love it so much. Hoping to soon get over my fear and start driving.

Hi,
Since you got your driving license, then it is time
for you to start driving.
Firstly don't drive in the crowded place, just drive in your
neighbourhood. and get your friend/relative to
accompany you. Of course, your accompany must know how to
drive a car too,in case, you need help.
What new car u bought?
Stay away from the scare...this is what I am telling myself last time
and now I can drive well myself, for day and night.
Happy driving !!

Hi,
It is good to learn driving, and also
more convenience to drive yourself rather
than always depend on other people to drive
you out.
For me, I definitely like to drive myself,
don't like to depend on my husband all the time.
Is it expensive to learn driving at your
country??? How long will be the process?
Just curious and wants to know more.
Thank you !!

Hi Shia,
I got my driving license about 12 years ago. I drive from there till now. Actually I don't enjoy driving that much, it is only a daily routine for me to drive to work. Butthe place I am staying here isn't easy to take public transport. So we have to drive ourself most of the time.

Hi Vingyan,
At last you are back to MyLot...
Thank you for dropping by.
I also got my first driving license 12 years ago during my high school time in Indonesia.
But I don't have chance to drive there as I was going to Singapore for my further studies. Then I left my license unused till it was expired.
After I settled down in Malaysia, I have the urge to drive and I started learning driving. Not easy to get driving license here.Have to go through the process step by step.I am so happy that I got my driving license after 1 month of practising.
Nowadays, I drive myself everyday...sending my son to school and fetching him back from school and I drive to supermarket for my grocery shopping too.
In Kuala Lumpur,it is not easy for the public transport.Having own car and drive ourself is the best way for transportation.

Dear Shia,
I got my driving license at 17 years old.
I passed the practical on my second trial
if I am not mistaken. Too long, can't remember
I do not drive till I bought my new car.
I just drive around the field perimeter.
My husband try to give me 'refreshing'
course. However, it is tough for husband
to teach wife. So, he decided to enroll
me with a driving school for 'refreshing'
course. It was good! Later, I purposely
apply for sales job that need driving.
From there onwards, I have improved. I do
drive night and day when necessary.

Hi,
It is good to learn driving although we might not
need it now.
At least, during emergency case, we can drive a car.
I got my driving license in Malaysia about 5.5 years back.
I went through both the practical and theory training and test.
Not easy !!
I was so nervous everytime when I went for practising especially
when my trainer asked me to drive out to the road. The traffic was
jammed in the morning and I have to make sure I don't bang other
people's cars.Of course, I know my trainer seat has break function
too. But I am still worried and sometimes my hand even gets sweat.
I was so happy that I can passed all the test within one month of practising.
I spent almost RM1000 for the whole process.
Now, I can drive to anywhere I want.Feel happy for it !!

Hi,
It is so great that your husband will drive you to anywhere you
want to go.
However, I prefer to be independent, so I like to drive myself
rather than
depend on my husband all the time.At least, my husband
no need to wait for me
while I am doing my things out there.

I'm 17 and I drive. I got mine at 16 and the reason for that was, I needed a way I could get to my Aikido classes which were about an hours or so walk from where I was.
Sometimes it's nice to just drive around, the freedom ;)

Hi,
So do you enjoy driving?
For me, I definitely enjoy driving. But I have not experienced myself
for long driving yet. I am not sure whether I can take it or not
as I have to sit and concentrate on the driving.
So far, I only drive within the town I stay.
Hope one day I will have a chance to drive further to other town.

I was staying at Mumbai and my office was on the way to station. So the car was not at suitable to drive in crowdy areas. So i use to go by either a train or a bus. It was my dream to have a car and at last at my 45 i bought a car. I was not aware of driving but joined a motor driving school and got a license and started enjoyment of driving for myself. But i prefer a driver for long driving.
