thesis introduction

there are many articles, which will teach you a lot about writing introduction to a thesis.. but, if it is for scoring some points, or getting your graduation/doctorate... I would suggest you to first LEARN a lot about the personal tastes of the person evaluating the thesis. like, when I submitted my first thesis, for a post-graduate course,. ... I knew from my seniors that the PROFESSOR is an ardent lover of one particular American Scholar. i started the introduction with a quote from that particular scholar, and filled the two pages from all the stuff relating to his views. with just a tag line, that.. I HAVE learnt a lot from these scholars,... and tried to put my views on the subject. it got approved .... without a second opinion being sought. thanks.
