I work from home so my pc is in my kitchen. We also have a dog, a black labrador and he sure sheds a lot. I should be cleaning my tower at least every 2 months but havent had time lately.
My hubby cleaned it on the weekend. He said it was high time as the fan was really dirty. I smoke, so that doesnt help.
How often do you clean the insides of your tower??

Well Im thinking that dust only might not affect the performance, and since its not allowed to smoke in offices anymore, then you're safe. I smoke and thats why I must clean mine at least once a month or the fan will stop working and then it'll be too hot in there.
Thanks

Thanks for sharing!

Amazing isnt it? You'd think they'd be able to sort of seal it so the dust wouldnt accumulate inside the tower!!
Thanks!

I haven't cleaned my computer long ago, but I'm trying to keep it clean around it.
If there is not much dust on it and around it (on my desk etc.) it won't be that dusty too, so I'm trying to keep the surrounding things clean.
I haven't cleaned it up since 6 months or something like that. I still have no issues with fans and such things, but I surely have to clean it up one day. I have no dogs or cats, so there won't be that much hair, but the dust might be able to broke your fans alone. Last time I had some kind of issue with it and it went to the service, I've bought it from and when they saw the dust inside they was like shocked and told me to clean it ofter. I haven't cleaned it up before, because it had 2 years warranty and I didn't want to break it, but they told me to clean it up and there would be no problem if I do it alone in my home - just to be careful not to cut that thing, that's for the warranty. Otherwise I think they was offering free cleaning for warranties too, but I have to bring it to their office and it will stay maybe for whole day, before its turn comes, so I end up cleaning it in my house, alone.

Im sure you can manage to clean it well. And its important to clean it often. Even if you clean around it, all over your desk, it doesnt clean the inside.
Thank you!

Oh dear, it must be the dust bunnies running your computer now. Well if ever you hear some strange noise, you'll know your fan is about to stop working. Then you might fry everything thats inside.
But the good news is, you'll be able to buy a brand new one
Thanks

Yup, when that fan gets very dirty, things will surely get hot so you're wise to act quickly then......unless you would rather get a new pc.
Thank you!

I don't have a tower at the moment; I am using a laptop. I have never cleaned it or opened it for anything. I used to clean the desktop tower once or twice a year and was always amazed at how much dust got in there. Mine was kept in a room apart from the rest of the house and I quit smoking years ago, so I don't know where it all came from!

Hubby has 2 towers that are protected from the dust but it still gets dirty!!

I haven't recently but I bet it sure needs it. I have my tower in a computer desk so it is so much harder to pull out to clean. Guess when we get to the computer room for its fall cleaning, I will pull it out and clean it out. By then I may have to get a broom to chase away those full grown rabbits, as they will not be dust bunnies anymore.

Haha to your full grown rabbits lol.
Im wondering why they didnt make them more dust free. Surely they know they always sit at the bottom of a desk somewhere!
Hope you wont be attacked by those full grown rabbits then!!!lol

Yes, I do, something like every two months or so. I am a bit of a clean freak so it comes naturally to me...

Good, so it means your pc must run very smoothly then. Hubby usually does mine about every 2 months also but maybe it should be done every month on mine.
