If you've been hurling and puking any time you eat something for the past two days - yet you're HUNGRY, what would be the best things to attempt eating? The last time I felt THIS BAD was when my pregnant with my daughter over 7 years ago. I'm not pregnant, so this isn't morning sickness, so I can't handle it the same way. I think I got the flu from my best friend or one of her kids.
I'm toying with the idea of not eating anything because my stomach still hurts, but going on two days of eating nothing is getting to me. Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi,
My doctor is call It for Rotavirus It is very bad thing you can get pains in stomach also you can get diarrhea. You need often wash your hands and make your house clean with chlorine. The best things what to eat is fruits, yogurt, you need to drink very much water or green tea, chamomile tea. And do not worry for anything, because It can make this virus longer. I hope all be well with you. Good luck, Take care, Have a nice day!

Thank you, so far it has just been puking and no diarrhea, I guess nothing stayed down long enough to digest lol. I'm sure I haven't been drinking enough but until I started to feel better I was afraid it would all just come back up anyway.
I'm having some chicken noodle soup and apple juice and so far neither is irritating my stomach - yet.

When my stomach is upset I like to eat toast. It's about the only thing I will eat when I'm not feeling well.
My husband likes scrambled eggs when he's not well. I personally think that's a little too heavy.. but to each his own.

I like to drink and eat warm soup when I am sick. I guess feeling the warm liquid going into my body just makes me feel better. I try not to eat junk food when I am sick because I think it would only make it worse. I also like to eat fruits and vegetables since I heard that they are healthy for you. I guess you can look online to find other foods that will help you get better. Get Well Soon. =)

Thanks! I really wasn't craving anything at all - although I was trying to ensure if I ate anything, it would be something that was gentle coming up if it came back up. Toast so far seems to be the winner here. Soup sounds very good so maybe I'll have a bowl of it for dinner. I wanted fruit really bad too but I was afraid that the acid in citrus fruit would make me feel sick again - the fruit I have is citrus like grapefruit or pineapple... or I have cherries. None of that sounded good even though I wanted fruit.

I've heard some people recommend the banana-rice-tea diet if you're throwing up a lot. Bananas are sweet so they'll raise your blood sugar and they'll also replace some of the salts you're losing from vomiting. Plain white rice boiled soft is bland and shouldn't irritate your stomach, and it'll be quickly absorbed too so even if it comes back you'll still get some benefit.
Get well soon!

Thank you so much! Someone else posted a link to me that included bananas and apple juice, so I might get some bananas. I'm trying some soup right now and at least so far it still tastes good. I'm going to keep track of all these suggestions for the next time one of us gets sick.

Hopefully by now, the horrible bug has decided that you are not the best host in the world and moved on to find a better one.
I have found that plain, salted chips/crips (covering as many bases as possible) have certianly helped to keep an unsteady stomach happier. The blandness of the potato and the salt seem to combine to give the stomach something to work on, so that feeling of hunger can be reduced. They also give the body some of the salts it needs, especially after being physically ill.
I have had to do this when pregnant (morning sickness? rename please!)and when I have just had a bug. It seems to work better than pharmacy aquired medicines.

himmommy boo oh stomach flu what my doctor called norwalk virus, you heave then dash to the bathroom, and its highly contagious so someone handed it to you. my doctor said eat the apple sauce, apple juice, dry toast diet as it's soothing and will stay down, then if that stays down try chicken noodle soup and tea. This really does work and even though I do not even like either applesauce nor apple juice I ate it and drank it and it did stay down too. they give us the same thing here when we get tummy flu and it will stay down. I love crisp ripe apples so do not know why I dislike the sauce or the juice. hope this helps as I sympathize with you, having been there and done that not too long ago.

I am no longer feeling as rotten as I was but I am still not 100%. I'm not sure whether this is the end of it or what though as when my daughter got sick, she felt better the next day and then threw up once again the day after that.
I think I have some apple juice in my pantry, I need to drink liquids so I might go get a glass of ice and open that up.

I woke up yesterday with a massive headache, and just a general rundown feeling. And it got me thinking: what are the top eat or drink foods when you're sick?
Tea: soothing, open up airways.
Soup: easy to go down , good to eat if you can't eat solid foods.
Juice: Vitamin C

Hello there !
Try having some fruits and a little Lime Juice.
For carbs, have toasts with milk.
You are sure to feel good :)
Take care :)

My mom used to feed me oatmeal, jello or soup when I was sick. Choose a clear soup as opposed to the creamy ones. If your still having a hard time taking solids, be sure that you take liquids with electrolyte content like Pocari Sweat. These drinks help replenish the body of lost nutrients.

for me if i don't eat for 2 days, i have to eat first a food which is easily grind in order to avoid our stomach ache..i suggest to eat fruits also but not acidic fruits..and also vegetables and soft foods or noodles..but most important you have to drink milk..and best thing you do is ask your doctor advice what the best for it..God Bless!

I was on that situation 3years ago, when I was a victim of dengue fever, I was in the hospital for 10 days, with all the food in my hospital room I still don't feel like eating, no appetite at all and when I have to eat, I just puke. But I have to eat because I need energy to fight my deadly fever. I started little by little with hot soup, then the next day we add little solid to the soup, there's little noodles, then little sopas until I could take some jelly and fruits. We did it little by little until my stomach could adjust to the food i take. When we are sick our body lost energy and we feel always tired. We need to take food no matter how awful it feels we have to, to regained our strength.
