Will putting ads on your site hurt your traffic?

Here’s a common fear I hear from people who are considering monetizing their web sites:
Putting ads on my site will cripple my traffic.The ads will drive people away, and
they’ll never come back.
What do you think about this?

Don't do pop-ups. They just piss people off. If you just do banners, it's fine and people will stay happy.

yes you are right about pop-ups neither i don't like them :)
they really are pissing people and the most sites for traffic exchange those sites are not acceptable !!

there are those that tends to over do it like more than 5 in a page. i tend to stay away on these sites.

I don`t think the traffic will decrease. People love to visit your site and they will do it again and again till you satisfy their needs.
