My ankle sprain has recovered but there is still has that weird feeling when I play basketball. What things should I do after recovering from a sprain on my ankle to get back in basketball? I thought playing basketball again would serve as a rehabilitation for my ankle but I don't think its working.

Try exercising your foot when your home. Play with ankle braces and start playing basketball slowly. Make more progress each day until it feels better. Once it feels better you can start playing uptempo basketball. I know because I sprained my ankle when I was wrestling. And slowly got back into basketball. If you play on it , it will only worsen more.

hi! how long ago did you have the sprain? did you give it sufficient time to recover before you stared playing basketball again? regular massage can help. it will improve blood circulation and will relax the muscles around it. but more importantly is what's going on with the joints and cartilage repair as your sprain heals. i hope you took food supplements with glucosamine, chondroitin and msm. not because it's my business but just wanna promote health, and i hope you can find something similar in stores near you. they are great for speed healing of sprains and strains plus cartilage repair. take some water soluble and fat soluble vitamin c also. it aids in faster healing too. do not put too much pressure on your sprain by putting it to a lot of work already. give it time to rest and heal itself. take care.

I have the same problem only from netball. I have,nt played netball in a couple of years now but I still have ankle problems. My ankle has been sore and swollen for about 2 months now and I don't even know what i did to it this time, it is really weak and just gives way sometimes. I find that if i elevate it and ice it when i am watching tv or reading helps. If you are going to continue to play basketball on it i definitly recommend strapping it so it can't roll on you. However you should stay off it for a while after you hurt it so that it can heal as best it can. Once you injure you ankle I don't think it can ever be the same.
