What is the right signal?

I'm not sure if this was taught in driving school but could you please share your opinion on this mylotters. When you get off from a road or a gasoline station and you will enter a single lane highway (with the traffic going to your left), should you make a left or right signal? Why? If you make a left signal, the car behind you will see it, but the incoming cars from the highway won't. Otherwise, if you make a right signal, the incoming cars will see it and the one behind you, won't.

If you are merging with traffic from the left, you should indicate left. Most cars have a repeater turn indicator on the front wing and this will be visible to the traffic on the road and, in any case, your position should also indicate your intention. Good driving practice says that, whenever possible, no action of yours should cause traffic to slow down, so you should be watching for a suitable gap in the traffic before pulling out into the main stream.

Thank you Since, in my country, we drive on the left, and what you describe would, for me, be merging with a main traffic stream on my right, I had to visualise the situation in a mirror, so to speak! Perhaps that made me describe it more carefully.
