We own a convenience store and we have a separate cache for the coins. All the other money are inside the cash register. We slept late the other night because of a TV show. And we didn't notice anything weird. When we woke up yesterday, we found that our stash of coins is empty and one of our windows were open, luckily though the bills are kept inside a safe. Of course it meant that they were stolen. We just thought that maybe the thief who stole it really needed money because he stole even the coins.
So we left the incident to experience. However, yesterday afternoon, after my brother got out of the toilet and I from my room, our cache of coins is missing again! We searched the store thinking that maybe someone misplaced it there. While we were searching for it, there were three kids outside our store. My brother went out and asked if they saw something. They just ignored him and went to the end of the block. My brother had an instinct that they were the ones who stole the cache because it was already raining and they didn't bother going home or even taking cover. My brother searched outside of our store and he found our cache and the coins beside the trashcan! We felt that the kids will come back for it, so we took out the coins and returned the cache to where we found it. I situated beside the window, the curtains covering me. After 10 minutes I saw one of the kids crawling under our store towards our trashcan! I waited for him to reach the can then I called my brother and ran outside! I caught him and took hold of his shirt. The kid was just 9 years old! He kept on saying that he didn't know about any money! And he said that he was just looking for something in the trash. I asked him of course why he would need to crawl just to get to the trashcan! He slipped and he said, "Of course I was going to get the money!" We took him to the immediate authority in our village and we found out that it wasn't the first time he stole something from the residents!
Times have really gotten tough. I mean, a 9 year old kid stealing coins! We felt bad because he's just a kid. But if we didn't take him to the authorities, we know he would keep on stealing. They told us that they were taking the kid to social services. It was sad, but it was necessary.

This kind of stuff shouldn't happen if the kids parents were raising there children well. We shouldn't blame the kids but we should blame the parents. I really pity those kind of kids even though I was a victim of robbery committed by a kid back in college. I never did blame the kid but the adult who taught him the dirty trade of robbing.

True! I bet it was his parents who taught him how to steal. That's why I feel sad because the kid's the who has to go through those stuff.

I really wished we didn't have to. But he's sure to do it again if we didn't turn him in. Sometimes doing something right makes you feel sad.

Oh my goodness, so sad you had to do that but the child should learn not to steal. I hate he's going to social services but it might be the best thing for him. Who is to say the parents didn't ask for the boy to steal! That would be even worse!

I know. I'm really sorry for the kid but you're right, he should be taught not to steal. I doubt it if the parents are not involved or didn't teach him to steal though.

that is very scary. even for a kid. i agree that times are hard for this country now, more and more people are getting into poverty. I am very very sure this isn't the last time you will have that kind of problem, am sure those other two will try to get it again. don't you have time to upgrade your security? it's really hard.

True! I kind of thought he's with a grown up or something. Sigh. I wish that our country would get better so that kids won't be forced to steal.

i don't think it's necessary to feel sad for u action. cuz we shouldn't shun this illness of our society. bring the kid to the authority and letting him take some social services maybe help him to kown how to get off the bad habit. on the other hand we should not blame these kids, cuz they may be homeless and really need our helps . Appealing to the goverment to pay more attention to these kids is what we should do .

Kids nowadays are really different. They are not scared to do anything. They even got to do things that are scary like the one that you've said. It was such a bad thing, but I think kids like those doesn't have to get the blame. Their parents should be the one responsible for them.

Yeah you are right, kids these days are becoming tougher and tougher. And I don't blame them for they are still kids but the parents who improperly raise them. I also have experience what you just dealt with because I have a shop and this things happen to me, not just once but several times already.
