Have you met a stranger from online social sites?

I have the same experience as well. There was one which we finally met and we are close till now. Mm.. I also met 2 more strangers from another country, one has become a very good friend of mine, and I get very close to the other one. He told me he wants to come to my country and meet me up. But I don't know whether that kind of thing will be real or not. I just don't want to hope too much..

I have a met a few people that I got to know online. Me and my best friend are members of a forum and we went to meet a girl named Niamh and another called Kat on separate occasions, but we went together to stay on the safe side. They both turned out to be nice girls and my best friend is currently living with Niamh for college. Not so long ago, I met a girl named Rose. I picked her up from her house and we went to Alton Towers for the day, I dropped her off and then went home. It was a lovely day and she is a really nice girl. I know it is unsafe to meet people off the internet, but I had known the first 2 girls for about 4 years before I met up with them and we met up in public places. The girl (lady really since she is 22) I had known for about 7 years and in my opinion if it was a paedophile looking for young girls, they'd not put 7 years of effort into it.

I am a member of Facebook and my friends there are primarily people I know off line. Here on MyLot I have many friends that I sometimes communicate with outside the site but I never met in person. The reason for this is mainly because many of us live in different countries! If I ever win the lottery I promise to make an effort to visit some of the great friends I have made here. So to answer your question no I have never met anyone from an online social site in person. It is not a bad thing to do provide all safety precautions are kept in mind. You met your girlfriend that way so it cannot be a negative!

I did tried meeting strangers in online social sites and other networking sites but I usually tend to ignore some because it can really be a lot dangerous to trust a stranger. Sometimes I do befriend some of those I meet in some site if I were able to know them better but I don't give a lot informations about me to them because they make take advantage of the informations or may even black mail me. But im interested knowing a lot of people in social sites where I can ask for help or simply by helping them out by sharing my thoughts like here in mylot!

I met one from Australia, and it turned out that she is a very nice lady. She will re-visit Bali next October. I plan to meet several in China, Korea and Japan.

yes, i have met some strangers via the internet and i don't find anything bad about this as long as the stranger doesn't abuse you in anyway. it's also a way of connecting yourself to the world.

Do you mean meeting in person? Well,i had few friends that i met thru online and we had the chance to met in person too. We are all girls anyway,and we been friends for 3 years now since we met thru online. We had a good friendship,and i am thankful to have met them thru internet. It is quiet dangerous to met strangers from the internet,so i guess,it is not advisable esp with boy-girl situation.

No I havent tried meeting anyone. infact i have not tried adding strangers also.

When i was younger i did this many times it was risky because you don't know where are you going and with whom are you meeting.Now i stopped doing this coz i know that i have to meet somebody in real life not in virtual space !!

Meeting strangers off the internet is kind of dangerous nowadays. How many stories do you read about young girls having conversations with men over the internet only to be raped or killed? I have plenty of people I meet daily around where I live. It all matters where you meet them too. Most of the people I meet are at my kids school, other parents, church, community events, etc.

yup. I did. But somehow not to some extend that went too far in the beginning. just knowing that keep yourself knowledgeable of dangers and what to avoid when meeting a stranger you met online will ensure your safety.
