Usually, I take a walk. Right now as I post this, I'm in a coffee shop. It's getting mighty cold in here (a ploy to chase me away as I have been here for some 8 hours now? no one knows for certain). When I'm in a rut, I go for a walk, jacked up a/c or no.
When I'm at home though, things are a bit easy on the writer's block bit. I had a saint card of Saint Patrick framed. It's a teeny tiny thin. When I was assembling the frame, I unwittingly mounted it on my desk, on a strategic place in front of me. So that when I look up, Saint Paddy is the first thing my eyes land on. For some reason, this prompts me back to my writing.

When I get writer's block, I can go days or even weeks without writing a single thing. I haven't been able to force myself to write during those times. Thus, I just take a break and stop thinking about writing completely until the vibe for writing comes back to me.

Yup. Been there. I usually just force myself to write my first idea that comes to my head. Even if it's stupid. You can always edit something bad, but you can't edit a blank page.
