I saw a study on internet that many women how take a diet have a depression too... Also many diets... get to suicide .... So, what is your opinion about that? Most of peple enjoy eating, some peple only when they are sad refuse to eat... so the sadness became depression?

I think that if you think you are over weight you should resolve to getting a gastric bypass surgery. When you see the word diet, what is the key word in it? Die, right? So, I feel that if you think you are over weight you should get the surgery. No diets. Plus you get full faster which means that you won't have the temptations to walk to your kitchen to grab a midnight snack.

I think many people are very obssed about theyr body. Before the surgery a person can speak with a doctor in nutrition... with a help...you can do enything.

I think diets don't work because people never stick to them or they don't eat anything for a whole day. I think people should just stick to a healthy food plan and make a plan each month for themselves.

sadness is one type of depression.either you eat too much or less eating food due to it,the consequences will be the same-it will bring some complications on your body fitness and health.so for me, just eat when it is time to eat and go for moderation consumption.

For me, my depression lead to binge eating! Well, such a sad state for me, because now I've gained weight and starting to get more depressed because of my unhealthy habits.

I think it depends on the reason for the diet. If its for medical purposes, like if the person is obese and wants to reach the appropriate weight then there won't be any depression. In this case, if the person succeed he/she can fight off depression because he/she will feel good about it. But if the reason for the diet is simply because the person is not contented with his looks or just for vanity's sake then there can be a depression going on.

there are people who are emotional eater, sometimes people are obese because when they are sad they eat a lot of comfort foods like chocolate, macaroni and cheese, chips etc, which are unfortunately very high in calories. So its more like obesity can be a physical sign of depression. In my personal experience i am obese because I am depressed and not the other way around.
Now on dieting i guess your talking about anorexic people, those who are already thin but still think they are fat. That's also a sign of depression.

I think that often weight can be the cause of depression rather than a diet itself, I know that I have suffered with depression and remember going through a period of thinking that things went wrong for me because I was overweight.
It's all to do with self belief and confidence, if you are eating a healthy diet this can help your mental state , problems arise I think when people become obsessive about their weight and their diet.
