what do you do when you have grown tired of your work because your boss is lousy but you still have to report for work because you need to earn a living for your children. I cannot leave my present job because I'm in my ripe age and another opportunity for me in another organization is very nil.?

I have been in your situation and I usually try to change my attitude about the job if I can't find another job. I try to find the positive things about the job.
You have a lousy boss, but are there some things that you appreciate about your job like nice co-workers or interesting/challenging aspects of the job?
If there are very few positive things I usually try to tell myself: "I don't like the job, but at least I have a job, there are many people who are unemployed and at least I am able to earn money for family, so in a way I am lucky even if I don't like the job that I have"

I might tell my Boss that I needed a break, like taking some days off (if possible). that way I would have some time for myself (spending times somewhere around) to consider whether I should quit from this job or whether there was any better option in other areas.
some of my friends ever asked their Boss if they could be moved to different division. that way could also refresh them without having to quit from their job, and they could learn new things and get new different experience from the same company.
