could someone guess the reason why SINGAPORE is a clean city? .. just like life!

it is very very simple to understand life, if you can follow the above similarity.
the beauty of the city, any city... and not just SINGAPORE lies in the waste-collection baskets.. that are properly utilized.
.. one cannot escape from waste collection baskets, to keep the city clean. they never need to be over flowing, if you keep clearing away the debris from them, and dispose properly.
similarly, for life to be beautiful, .. one needs to face the difficulties. ... but, instead of crying over the troubles, and making the waste basket to overflow with your burdens... CLEAR THEM off your chest. .. you will enjoy the beauty of life.

just a thought, which pulls me out of my depressive moods.
thanks for allowing me to share this!

Hi consultrainer!
In one workshop I attended that was exactly what the lecturer said "clear them off your chest." Among some of her suggestions I'm learning to put it down on paper and have it torn, shredded or burnt.
By the way, I'm honored that the city I live in is examplified here.

Yes dear
Life's beauty is in our hands and if we take very good care of it then it becomes enduring. We humans sometimes don't like to clean up after ourselves so the beauty often times fade into ugly and if we don't take the time clear the garbages or unwanted substances then we will always have a conngested life.
Beauty comes from deep within us and shines outward, so if our thought are beautiful then we will strive to show beauty. If our minds are too blind to see the beauty within us then its going to be very difficult for us to show that outward beauty.
We need to work hard at seeing the beauty deep within us so we therefore show that beauty around us, life would be alot more easier than it is now.

Auh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes i know that kind of feeling and it should be an eye opener to humans to take a look in the mirror and see what you are not literally please. All i'm saying is that we need to search deep within our souls to find our true beauty. It is there so keep on looking don't give.
You are most welcome my friend.

The city is clean because they are very strict in enforcing the by-laws. The side effect is thatthey cross over the strait and release their tension in my country.
If you do not believe me come over to my country, and wait at the Immigration Chrckpoint. Follow a car crossing over from the republic. The majority of its citizens throw rubbish out of the car window. They drive at high speeds, hogging the fast lane. They simply ignore the summons given to them, going back to the safety of their border.
It is not a question of lack of enforcement in my country. It is a matter of self-discipline, and respect for their neighbour. I myself throw rubbish in a proper place.

hahahaha.. i never heard of that. NOR did i even think of that ...
i am sorry for the neighbors...
I have tried to compare... just for its appearing beauty. .. don't take SINGAPOREANS as example.
my idea is... you should not keep for yourself .. .all the dirt and sickly feelings. and, make your life BEAUTIFUL.

That's a good analogy. I agree that we should clear ourselves of negative things so we could face our problems with a positive attitude and a proper disposition. It will make things lighter

well, thankyou verymuch. Hundred 100 % right about DISPOSING waste and trash.
but, why do we not learn from that? .. to dispose off the waste of the human thoughts and emotions? .. instead, we are keeeping them logged on in our deepest of the deep heart... and, suffering.
that is what I wanted to tell you all.

I used to live in Singapore and the city streets were such that it was said you could eat your meal off the ground...a very clean and tidy city indeed. However if one ventured into some of the the surrounding suburbs this was not the case, in fact I saw some truly disgusting, uncivilised, actions and scenes away from the city.

oh. i never heard about the suburbs...
and, it happens! .. if we try artificially, to clean the front-room, .. one often tends to put all the unnecessary things, into the bed-room, where often no guest ventures in... ... but, it should not be that way. If you want to be TIDY, do that to your home, with your heart! ..
same is the case with one's own life! .. that is what I wanted to project.
thanks Ms Tickle, .. hope I could TICKLE you enough with this, to be my friend.

Go green, go green..
Very nicely said there, consultrainer. So true...all the dirty toxics must be removed first..in order to derive to something close to perfection.. . We must be able to do some bits of self-reflection at times.. and not to keep on blaming others and circumstances for certain things that have gone wrong.. this is what I think. Good topic.

Well my sweet.
Seems we are rowing in the same boat.
You get to swim as this boat have a lot of holes in it.
To keep this clean you need to understand why it got dirty in the first place.
Start rowing my sweet, we have a long way to go, you know.
TATA.

I think Singapore is a clean country because every mistake can be get fine and every citizen can be act as spy for they neighbor. We have to very careful about our waste in Singapore if we don't wanna get fine too.
Singapore is clean country but some times really cheat about it. We had case with like few years ahead they send a compost fertilizer to us but it contain B3 waste than contain radioactive that harm to people and they don't wanna receive back, even when international law it should send back to sender country.

Well, it's the government's law I think! The government is so strict regarding cleanliness. People are given disciplinary actions if they disobey the rules, that's why people in Singapore obey and follow the government's law. Not only the citizens of Singapore but also the foreigners in that country.

they can't afford to have everyone on the island littering around. at the end, Singapore will become a big pile of trash island if they not enforce the law.

A very good realization. And much better if it were really applied both on our lives and on our waste disposal system.
Singapore is a very disciplined country. My friend is currently having a tour there now and heard that people are very conscious and careful about throwing their trashes anywhere because there is a very large fine! Aside from that, the city has wastebaskets paractically everywhere!
So people don't just throw, or urinate, or spit anywhere.
Government is the key! But a lousy gov't like what we have won't be able to implement this.

I was just seeing the pics of Singapore my husband sent..The esplanade theatre, skyscrapers and the costliest hotel there. It is indeed a clean city and I plan to join him soon. My husband has gone on office work for two months and he is really liking it there. Yesterday he was telling me about the rules there, fine for smoking in public, carrying explosive items in train and for not obeying traffic rules...

Cleanliness of city lies in the kind of civic sense of its people and strictness observed by the law-enforcing agency. In UAE if a child throws out chocolate wrapper out of the car window the police imposes a hefty fine. For this reason, no one dares to make the city dirty. If people get habitual to live in clean surroundings then they see to it that the environment does not get dirty.
