I heard on the news a couple of days ago where the Scientists has answer the old question on what came first chicken or the egg ! I thought that this would make for a wonderful discussion.
The link to the story is below:
http://www.abc2news.com/dpp/news/world/researchers-say-the-chicken-came-before-the-egg-in-age-old-riddle-ews-originial-wfts-201007141279139922116
The Bible saids That:
Genesis
1
The Creation
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20 ΒΆ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
I say that the article is simply is fascinating and very interesting to read. However, whit that being said *** God told us what came first in the first book of the bible. Furthermore, when you get right down to it, in my opinion *** God Only Knows!
What's you opinion?
Have a wonderful day

I believe in the truth that comes from evidence, facts, and tested theories. I place great importance upon learning and intelligence. Therefore, I can only ever believe science.

My star is a 4 for three reasons.
1. I enjoy posting my opinion and never censor myself or set aside my convictions.
2. Most of the people on mylot are religious, and I'm not.
3. Most of the people on mylot are republican/conservative/libertarian, and I'm not.
I really don't care what my rating is though, if that was meant to be an insult.

No worries, it's difficult to discern meaning over the internet at times ;)
I avoid rating as well, though I have given a few negatives for outright racism.

Haha, I get too bored unless I join in on the religious/political discussions. Rating be damned, I require entertainment.
And my name actually comes from the song Jupiter Crash by the Cure ;)

God. I believe in Him because he made everything... who else would have a better answer to any of the questions of life?? Scientists are only trying to figure out HOW while God is the inventor and knows HOW lol.

Attributing all answers to god reduces your capacity for knowledge and intelligence. It stifles these scientists (who no doubt are the reason you are still alive if you have ever taken antibiotics in your life) who are actually trying to learn about the universe and build a better life for their fellow humans.
It's okay to say "I don't know." That being said, there is so much evidence, observation, and theory that can explain many of the complexities of the universe and it never requires resorting to an imaginary friend.

There are numerous religious beliefs in the world, Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim, Christian, Agnostic and Atheist, come to the top of my mind. I am a born-again Christian, therefore believe that God created the universe. I believe that He created the science that scientists are working to unravel. He gave them the intelligence to achieve knowledge for the sorting. God also gave us free will to believe whatever we wanted. I believe that I will stand before the judgment seat of God, when Christ comes the second time.
We are each entitled to our own belief system, you...yours, mine...mine!

Amen Tex LadyPj!
God is not an imaginary friend. Call me a fool for believing in someone invisible. But believe me He is much clearer in my life than any other visible being I encounter everyday!

Dinosaurs were laying eggs long before chickens existed.
I read of the study elsewhere, and they were saying that a protein in the ovaries of the chicken is necessary to create the egg shell.
but that only accounts for chickens eggs.
all birds have eggs, and birds are not the first egg laying animals.

Dinosaurs and humans have never shared the planet.
long before us, they were here, then various other things, then us.
if the history of the world were a clock face, we wouldn't have been in existance for more than a few seconds.
and the story of Noah is a story thast has appeared in the mythology of most cultures throughout history.
no one can really lay claim to it as fact.

OK....
let me tell..
Knowledge about anything is understanding it...
We know GOD..we need to know more about him..
Knowing more is getting closer to GOD..
Science explains us the wonders of GOD...
So knowing science is knowing GOD....
All those books are man-made..and just another version of GOD's interpretation by human itself...
So I believe in GOD and learn about him through science....
I may sound silly..edify me....
thanks for topic....
have a great day/night..

How exactly does science explain the wonders of god? Science may explain the wonders of many things - evolution, human life, animal life, the universe - but I fail to see how it specifically explains the wonders of god. All those things are entirely separate from god and do not require a god as an explanation.

Science does explain my body. It is made up of several elements, mainly oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen. I'm the wonderful creation of evolution. And no, god doesn't exist ;)

jhi snow yes I agree God only knows is about it. Whats more
I really do not care anyway as I have a life to live, and hens
and eggs figure in when I am hungry otherwise not at all. I
have enough other things on my plate so do not need to worry about who came first, Leave it up to God. he he

I truly believed in one God no matter how the scientist explained their side, their discoveries and exploration make somehow interesting to me but no sense in comes of believing to God. Scientist is the result of the power of God. The knowledge and wisdom possessed by the scientist came from God. They should not go against God.

When I first heard this on the radio last week I thought that it would make a great discussion topic, but then I forgot all about it!
I still do not understand how they came to that conclusion even after reading the article. In my opinion the egg was around way before the chicken as reptiles have been laying eggs since the dinosaur days. I think that chickens and other birds that lay eggs are actually reptiles that evolved to suit changing conditions over the years.
I do not think we can ever know exactly how life on earth was formed. Each theory is really only that. A theory!

Of course, I believe the scientists.
It's fun that someone decided to take the time to research about what came first, if the chicken or the egg I would have never thought of it myself, but I think that it's good that nowadays so many things can be scientifically explained

for me science will give you either facts or false informations but I'm not saying I'm against it, point is they are only human we may believe their conclusions, deductions etc.but we will never praise them same thing as god. ...I believe in God as well as in science, but i trust "God" more than any other thing in this world. . . =]

I've read other responses, you got a variety, some for science, some for God.
My personal belief is God. I believe God created the earth and all that is upon it. I believe God created science, the scientists are still working on figuring out the science He created. Who or what else could create the beauty and wonder of the universe.
I read Jupiter's responses, however just scanned them. If Jupiter wants me to respond, I will have to research the biblical references. I will be happy to, if that is what Jupiter wants. I don't have the Bible memorized. I memorize scripture that God quickens to my heart.

As a Christian, i have to follow my faith and my heart. I firmly and without any hesitation believe in God. Scientists are just men and women trying to figure out God's world. God is our creator. Our trust has to be in him.

Of course I believe in God. He creates scientists but none of the scientists creates God. Scientists work only based on logic, meanwhile, He can makes something that beyond the human thought. For chicken and egg question, I don't believe any of them came first.

If our source of knowledge and intelligence comes from God,then Science was created by god,to make Human think more ,discover more, learn more,Fail and Succeed...Without all the beginnings there will be no science....i just don't know why ,when one gets a high education and became intelligent, some Morals and values are lessen...and Brags about his little knowledge in this world...I'd better be a poor and un educated human but have faith in god and live the righteous way then a man with gold, and diamonds but with a skin of a snake and a heart of the devil...well that's my opinion..thanks!

Well Humans are of different nature, culture, belief and experiences..in my case God made science so as Humans and Humans who is less intelligent and Powerful than god tried to explore things up to these days finding facts, gathering data, trying to proved that God has nothing to do with their Life... but unfortunately failed...I respect your views and beliefs jupitercrashing and thennarasugr and also respect mine...Hope to see you in other discussion..thanks!

Education does not at all equate to wealth or lesser morals. I am an educated, atheist vegan who regularly volunteers and I've donated to and done work for charities, mainly Invisible Children. I have known very moral atheists and extremely immoral religious followers.
The reason the educated lose faith is precisely because they become more intelligent. When you are less educated, you do not understand as much and it is easier to attribute things you do not understand to an imaginary friend in the sky. All humans should desire to expand their knowledge as much as possible, regardless of their faith (or lack thereof).

Hi Melmabb,
I don't think so knowledge and intelligence come from GOD. Believing in God is different from believing in Nature. I hope the WH question with in us is the source of science.

I belive in the scientists because of their explanation about phenomenons in every filed. People usually says that God'd created all things in life but how many of them has ever seen the God?

Catholics see God as God alone...
Roman Catholic see God as a Holy Trinity...
Other Catholic see God Jehovah...
Other Catholic see God as Yahweh...
Other religion see God as Allah...
Other different religion see God differently...
How many Gods are there for a none-blind person to see?
where every different religions out there claiming that their God is a true God and other religion's God out there is a false God and vice versa...
