ive passed for 8 months now and my car insurance is horendous, £150 a month on an old corsa.
then you have the tax, mot and petrol. do you really think it is worth the hassle when the mot runs out and you have to fix it and the insurance you have to pay every year.
is there a point? what do you think?

well it really depends on the country i think. in the philippines the cost of maintaining a car isnt really that high. But the tax imposed of buying one is high especially if its out of the country.

There is a point if you need to run a car to get to work etc.
For me, in the small village where I live, having a car is a number one priority. I simply would not be able to get anywhere without one. We would literally starve. There's no public transport ans the taxi's don't even come up here!
Running a car can be expensive and I do think that the insureance for new drivers is crazy. You would be better off getting insured as a named second driver on your parents insurance to make the premiums cheaper, that's if you want to.
I am affraid it is just another one of theose things, with age comes responsibility, but if you think you can get to where you want to be by using public transport, walking or useing a bike/moped you would be better off ditching the car.
