i need help with my avira program that i cant uninstall

my friend downloaded an antivirus program which is avira it's not working, it doesn't scan nor detect any viruses i want to uninstall it but the computer says "Setup could not determine the feature control file or was not able to read it correctly" what should i do? i can't uninstall it, i can't use it i can't repair nor replace it with new antivirus please can anyone give me some advice
