I felt ‘goozy’ everywhere….

I was listening to the radio and I heard Leonard Cohen’s ‘Dance Me To The End Of Love’ and I felt all ‘ goozy’ everywhere as the D.J. on the radio put it, in other words I felt goose bumps all over me and I wanted to cry for some reason, I felt all warm and fuzzy...It’s funny how music can have that effect on us and certain songs can drive us to tears. We can hear a song and cry tears of reminiscing joy, grief or regret. Some songs are just special. My friend’s husband played ‘Lady’ by Kenny Rogers on their first date and now it is the ring tone on her phone whenever her husband rings; she still cries when she hears the whole song and they’ve been married a really long time! Another song which touched me is comedian Tim Minchin’s ‘White Wine In The Sun’, it is rather long but if you listen to the words you can’t help but be touched; it is about Christmas and who doesn’t love Christmas, it’s sentimental I know...
I am sharing the links to these three songs; please note these are not referral links:
Tim Minchin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0s68-GLGWY
Leonard Cohen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pA5UhNaYw0
Kenny Rogers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj_NjLBPotQ
Please share with me what song or piece or music makes you go ‘goozy’???

Hello Paula. Thanks for the links, you posted some good stuff there. I love music, anything except hip hop or techno so I have a wide taste, you should see my ipod lol it's full of everything. My favourite Leonard Cohen song is Suzanne, probably his best known one I know but it's great to listen to it when unwinding or just chilling in the evening. One song which never fails to give me goosebumps is the live version of English Rose by Paul Weller.

Thanks AutumnGold I like receiving titles of songs people love so I can chase them up and have a listen. I am not sure I have heard English Rose but I will now! Leonard Cohen is a brilliant artist, he's coming to my city, I wish I could afford to go and see him. Thanks for responding, I appreciate it!

Can't you? Some songs can really effect me, must be because of my traumatic life (LOL)! I don't know too many people who don't like the Beatles, we have the White album on CD and my eight year old loves it! Thanks Dawn...

Hi Jen, I was surprised by Tim Minchin's song because it was really part of a comedy routine but it is quite touching and, as the song says, sentimental! Almost anything by Leonard Cohen is soul music, thanks for being here!

It is a lovely song and I can appreciate why it is so special for my friend. Some special songs are timeless and I cry each and every time I hear them! It is the words, the music or both...Thanks jahernandezrivas for the response!

Good song choices. Go Rest High on That Mountain by Vince Gill that touches me and makes me emotional. Not for the same reasons as say the song Lady does for your friend. But when I hear this song by Vince Gill, I think of my recently deceased Papaw, and I also think of something another member of my family is going through. And how I know more than anything, they would like to just have their life end, and finally be at peace in Heaven.

I don't know that song Pam but I will look for it because I am certain that it is beautiful. Songs like that can take you to another place and that is the remarkable thing about music. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it!

Hi paula, I am a diehard fan of Kenny Rogers and most country singers. Their songs bring me back down memory lane as I grew up listening to country beats when those hiphops and raggaes were non in existence yet. They remain evergreen songs and will never vanish even with the birth of more modernized songs. Island in the stream by kenny rogers remain my favorite and hearing this song send a kind of sensation that bring instant glow to a bad day. I have it in my profile so I can listen while I mylot.

I like some of Kenny Roger's music but I admit that I have not listened to him in a while before sharing the link. I love Leonard Cohen's song, it is so lovely...You are right in saying that some songs will never vanish. Our favourite music certainly has a way of changing our mood for the better, that's for sure, thanks for your response zandi!

I like those two songs. Sometimes the song mean something to us personally and at other times it is just the music and lyrics themselves. Music is such a gift and I am so thankful for it; it has brought me out of many dark times. Thanks for stopping by ANTIQUELADY!

Hi paula27661,
I love songs that sooths the soul and make you feel all goozy. A song can mean so much in so many way to so many people. Remembering a song from a first date becomes a couple favorite song for life. Some songs, even though they are beautifu, can be painful to listen to. For instant, if someone you loved very dearly past away, and you miss them terrible and you hear their favorite songs on the radio, you mostly likely would want to cry or you may even cry and have a little pain in your heart.
Song writers are very special people. They can write beautiful songs that do touch the lives of people all around the world. Each one of us will have a different story about why this song or that song means so much to them. It is great to have songs and music in our lives.

I agree. There are songs that are painful for me to hear because they are reminders of my heart being broken or the passing away of a friend but strange as it sounds I still need to listen to them every now and again...I love to write but I cannot imagine having the ability to write a song and the music to go with it. I think we take song writer's talents for granted, they surely are very gifted people. Thanks for responding Angelgirl16!
