Among the Firefly/Serenity movie/tv series characters, who's your favorite? In the series, River Tam seems like a helpless victim of the Alliance research. Though it has been said that she's "gift" as his gifted brother would say describe her. It was not shown in the tv series (before it was cancelled) the full extent of River's capability as a mind reader and a fighter. In the movie, you gotta admire how she wiped out the reavers with a sword and an axe on either hand. This goes to say that River Tam is my favorite. How about yours?

I like River for the fanfic potential but my series favorite is Kaywinnit. On a side note, though I LOVE Kaylee, I'm not a Kaylee/Simon shipper. (I will ship her with Jayne or even Mal but not Simon)

Hmmm.. I think Kaylee seems so delicate if you pair her with Jayne who's so... brute (?). She could be a good match with Mal though... but I wonder what's wrong with Simon/Kaylee tandem? ;)

Something about Simon just irritates me. Mal is my "mate with everyone" character; I always have one in my shows some how. I find Mal/River to also be interesting. As for Kaylee/Jayne; Jayne is one big baby. Go and watch the pilot again. His reaction to her being shot - he is crouched outside the medical bay during her surgery like a baby about to cry. (I think he actually rocks himself)

What, no love for Wash? I do like Kaylee, and Mal is always amusing, but I think everyone has their merits. I feel like we see Wash the least, but something has always drawn me to him (probably his sense of humor, heh).

Yeah, I didn't like that they killed him off. I felt they should have kept it more to the series (since they were trying to encapsulate it in one movie) and left it open to more adventures. I think that there is a strong call for Firefly and I'm sad they have changed it so much. However, I suppose we never know what the actors and actresses felt.

I suppose maybe I'm stereo-typical of most, but I simply adore Mal. I loved how he doesn't give anything he does a second thought in terms of battle. I loved how when he was shot he stood his ground and kicked them off his ship! Of course I cried through the rest when I thought he'd die! I also loved when he kicked the first henchman of the Russian into the turbine. I literally responded with an "Holy S---", but I respected Mal for doing so, the guy deserved it. I also liked his attitude in the dual and what he said to the man afterward. I'm nowhere near the memory that my husband has for movie/show lines but I loved how he was like "I'm a better man. I'm a good man. I'm an ok man". I also loved his ability just as a leader. Like when Wash thought Mal and Zoe had relations, then found out they didn't after they were captured and yet Mal used that to his advantage to keep Wash's a-- alive! Then there is that rugged man's soft side. I suppose I am drawn to Mal because my husband was also a solider so they have a great many similarities. I mean, even if Mal does refer to Inara as a "Whoore" he truly cares for her and it shows in times of great need. And in the episode where Jayne turns Simon and River in and he punches him, then locks him out about to let him lose. It's proof that he does care for his ALL his crew and he won't let them turn on one another-period. I do like all the other characters but I most admire Mal. Namaste-Anora

One thing I liked about the characteristics of Mal is ... he's not the stereo-typical star-ship captain that can do it all like Kirk and the other U.S.S Enterprise Captains who seems to be capable of doing the impossible... which is impossible of course. Mal however, knows his limits, stands his ground when needed but if necessary will not put the lives of his crew in danger .. although it seems that danger is always on their tail. :D

River is definitely my favorite. I love Summer Glau. She was the reason why I went back and watched it because I saw her in Dollhouse and LOVED her which inspired me to go back and watch Firefly/Serenity and then move on to see her in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I really wish Firefly wasn't screwed over by FOX and would've gotten to run how it was supposed to because I believe that there was amazing potential with it that we didn't get to see.

I totally agree with you. If only Firefly wasn't canceled, could be seeing more of River bashing the bad guys. The way she hacked and slashed down the reavers in the movie was awesome! I was hoping to see more of River ... a little less blood will do. heheh

My favorite character is Zoe. It's amazing how she trusts Mal completely. She always obeys Mal's commands without any questions. She is a true warrior! Everyone really loved the series. I wonder why they cancelled it. :(
