After Japan built the first high-speed railway in 1964, such means of transportation has been developing very quickly in the world. Japan and European Union has already formed a complete high-speed railways networks, which promote the development of economy and make people travel more conveniently. Nowadays China has already made a plan to build the largest high-speed railway network in the world and is putting it into practice. Currently the speed of high-speed trains has exceeded 350 kilometers per hour. So do you think in the future it will replace aeroplanes to a large extent? I'm expecting your opinions.

Yeah, I agree that safety is the priority when people decide which means of transportation to choose. In theory aeroplane is a very safe means of transportation, but in reality many people think that train is much safer.

As you said: "The speed of the high-speed trains has exceeded 350 km/h" and the airplanes fly with the speed of 900 km/h do you think the people would choose approximately 3 times slower traveling? Actually, I think that the tendency is to the flights. I watched a documentary film on Discovery about the new ways for traveling, the new technologies and future plans... And they were saying that everyone will have his own airplane (as we have cars), which will be very safe, and all you'll have to do is to adjust the coordinates where you want to go and the plane will perform the rest of the work. All the sky will be a traffic map, where all the planes will cross each other. It's created a prototype of this plane, It was shown in the film. What should I add? Do you think the high-speed trains should exceed higher speeds?

nice to see you guys, here I am the first time after getting a news from BBS. The high-speed train is a great topic, especially in China today. I even got to know a new line from yunnan province in China to Singapore is planning to build these days. Personally, I believe training and flight should be operated at the same time, the first reason is it is good for competition between train and flight, and it is not easy for any side to take shape of monopolization. The second reason is passenger may have more options, for example, for sightseeing travel, people can select train, for business trip with long distance, and people can select flight. Both train and flight can't replace the countpart completely I think.

I hope so, since it is more environmentally friendly. But I am not sure it will happen, not in all countries anyway. But even in some would be good enough for me!
