(NO Offense, I hope you enjoy the topic) Hello Lotters, I don't know about other religious discussions here, or where i should start(darn head ache) but i do remember starting a discussions about people being hypocrite in their religion. in the response, some think it depends on the person, others believed they only have religion and Not GOd. and the last one, which usually the old reason is "we are all sinners" Well, Boo hoo. have you noticed this has been an excuse when ever faults of followers are always discussed. Yes yes yes, literally from the Bible said Adam and Eve were the first sinners. and we have free will which allow us to be sinners, and we say it with confidence. I wonder, does it bother you, when ever that excuse is made. again, no offense, but we (me too) say this all the time. WHEN ARE WE PLANNING TO REPENT FOR REAL. do we really have to wait for bad things to do happen or when it is too late. Don't worry I am just asking because it's hard to Repent........

you're only a sinner if you want to be... sins are a joke, whoever made them up was not that smart... you sin, you confess, say a prayer and you're clean, repeat... that's the way it goes...

sometimes i can be really confused about this. because there are times that i think it's an excuse to do it again and again until they got tired of doing it.

I personally do not believe in religion, it is man made and I do not accept any religion, I believe in God, and thats that for me. Are we all sinners? I believe so no one isperfect. I think some do use it as an excuse, but that is not for me to judge that s for God to judge in his time. I think it is there for us to not get down so hard on ourselves. We are fighting human nature in trying to be perfect creatures, and we should each follow our on path to salvation, no one knows 100% of someone else's existence and we should give each other the benefit of the doubt that we are on our own path and focus more on our path than someone elses. that is just my opinion.

Hello stacy, No one is perfect indeed, i agree with you on this one. but i hope people would be try to be tough in their principles that they wouldn't break it like a stick and put it on a glue to make it better again. i guess i was too emphasizing on the sinner excuse part.

sins have different kinds. there are mortal sins and venial sins. there are certain degrees of sins. if the sins we commit are forgivable sins and i am sure that it is easy to repent. we have a very forgivable God and we have to make sure that we can be a better person after asking for forgiveness. as a person it is our obligation to make it right. in my opinion once you ask for forgiveness then you should not be doing it again.

Hello seventhird, yes i know we have different kind of sins. sometimes i didn't know that why we give that excuse when we can do our best not to repeat it again. sometimes i believe confession is something more like a stress reliever, but knowing our sins are gone remains a mystery to me, unless you believed it's gone.

I am not particularly religious but do believe in God and when my daughter was born I refused to call her a sinner which is what I was taught in the Catholic religion which is that we are all sinners from birth and I often wondered what a new born baby could have possibly done while in the womb to label him or her a sinner (??) I respect most religions because they all have a good common thread but I don’t want to buy into feeling guilty just because I exist.

I agree...The Catholic religion taught me that at a young age, I don't know if it has changed nowadays, I hope so because my husband has arranged for our eight year old daughter to go to Catholic religion education classes; so far so good...Your religion sounds good, I would love to learn more about it one day...

we are all just human, people do mistake and do sin. sometimes we do need something bad to happen to make us aware that we have done something wrong. and never too late if we all want to fix it up

Hello ifa, well, it's true as well. we should do our best to do good things in life. i guess sins can't really be avoided, but still questions, lingers me but never mind, i don't want to go for another long debate.

When we become Christians, we didn't become righteous right away, that there in then we dont sin, because all of us still has our sinner nature, which means we are all in a process. Process that we should be willing to go through. A person who truly loves God, does not want to sin because He fears God. He may fall sometimes but tries hard not to. I think that it is not the act of sinning that is more important, but the choice to change, not sin and choose God (though again it is still a process).

Hello kharlav, I agree with you that we don't become righteous right away we just ended up messing up things first, but i guess it's part of our path that no righteous person didn't go to the stray path in their lives. guess you're right, it's how we got up and do the right thing

@richnai: What I meant was not a fear that means "To be afraid or frightened of" but a fear that means "To be in awe of; revere" . A fear that makes you be afraid of sinning and disobeying Him. Every person needs to have a fear of the Lord so that we will be afraid to sin. We must remember that He is not only a lover but also a judge.

First of all if some have no God then why do they need to repent? To whom they will repent their sins?. They said they are humans so they are prone to mistake, is the excuse yes, it is okay to make a mistake the first time but important to learn from it and do not repeat the same mistakes. There is an excuse for a first mistake but for the second one, that will be cruel. On the sin, I believe sin is much deeper than doing mistake, as sin involved some awareness but despite it they chose to do it because they have to do it, it is about their decision. Like killing someone, like having a relationship with a man already married. We cannot say that is a mistakes since we are aware on it. I believe there are no sinners, all of humans are sinners. There is no perfect after all, however, if we made a sin we should accept the consequences. And if we believe in God, ask his forgiveness and blessing, and ask him to guide us on not repeating the same mistakes, to avoid us of temptation.

It is more important to concentrate on doing what is "right" than getting hung up on "sinning" all the time. Yes, we all committ sins, but if we concentrate on the 613 mitzvot in the Torah we will "fall" fewer times in our day to day activities. Most christians have not clue what these are. They only know the 10 commandments and tend to ignore those as much as possible, but they are there. Look up Judaism 101 on the net and check out the 613 mitzvot. Some of them only deal with Israel, but many of them apply to everyday activities. They also tell you how to keep the "Sabbath Holy" and it doesn't just mean spending one hour in a church. I suppose it does sound like an excuse. All have sinned, so don't judge me. What we should do when we are caught in a sin is to own up to it and say we're sorry.

Yeah thats the thing I like least when people are talking about Christians or some other religion "Yah darned hypocrits!!!" Umm who ever said we are perfect?? I must have missed that boat. Attend a few church sermons. Plenty of ministers will even tell you "for we all fall short of the glory of God". There is no magic button that makes us incapable of sin as soon as we are saved. I mean we can say this and that is wrong but in the end we are still as human as you are. Ps its not just religious that preach right and wrong.

Hello Letran, You are right dear brother, this is an escape goat whenever one person done mistakes or had sinned. But,NO,we are not born sinners, the day our Lord Jesus was crucified,we are already saved from our sins. Humans are created from God's form, and not to become sinners. If ever human sinned,it is becoz we are weak, and prone to temptations,we only need to be strong and firm not to do mistakes. If God put us into temptations,it is to test our faith in HIM. We must always remember that,GOD will never give us trials that we cannot overcome with. If our own parents always wanted the best for us,and never want us to be harmed or be hurt, not even with a mosquito bite, what more with our Heavenly FATHER who created us. HE will never give us into temptations that will cause us harm or will destroy us,HE only wanted us to know and realize that,we cannot do anything without HIS help. Have a wonderful weekend ahead

Hello Jaiho, Yes, sis i never stated that we are born sinners, it's just that people make excuse of we are all sinners when ever sin is being talked upon. i know god will forgive, but am uncertain how long his mercy will last.

I know some of us are really sincerely repenting our sins, in private and no need to mention in public that "we are repenting on our sins". It's our relationship with God, our personal relationship with God, that I and He, we and He, and the only ones knowing about it... We are all sinners, and it's hard to maintain not to sin anymore. We are week. From time to time we sin. But as long as you maintain your relationship with God, talk to Him in private and ask forgiveness, He is always there willing to forgive us and welcome us back to His fold.
