Srilanka won Murali Muralitharan's farewell test by 10 wickets. At the start of his final test, he was 8 wickets short of entering territory that no other cricketer had. And at the began his last day in Test Cricket needing 2 more from remaining 5 Indian wickets. And at lunch, he was on 799 and 2 more Indian wickets were remaining.
After the lunch when next wicket down by run out, most started to assume he is going to be a tragic hero! But he kept nerve and took the wicket of Pragyan Ojha and become the superb finisher as legend.

I am really happy about the fact that he has taken 800 wickets in test matches. But I would have also loved it had he finished in 799. That would have made two of the probably unbeatable test records being just short of perfect - Don Bradman's average just short of 100 and Murali's record haul just short of 800!! It would have been perfect, but then Murali had other thoughts.
Cheers!

If he would not be able to touch the milestone of 800 Test Wickets, lots of Srilankan players might not able to forgive themselves. Because Malinga was very dangerous form in 2nd innings and a silly run out at the end.
But they are all professional players, team win is much important than individual record.

He is now legend of test cricket. His contribution for the Srilankan Cricket and for the WORLD CRICKET is unforgettable task. He is holding so many records or such type of records which are mostly impossible to break.
Now it is the challenge for current and future bowlers.

Hi goldenrose2 yeah it's true that Murali finished on a high and the great bowler that he was we all think that it is the perfect end to a great career.Single handedly he helped his country to win several test matches over the years and inspite of all the allegations against him he didn't lose focus. However I still feel that Murali should have aimed at 1000 test scalps and even then he would have managed to achieve it with certain amount of ease.Still the milestone achieved by him is going to remain a long long time and it will be very difficult for anyone to surpass or even come close to it.Well done Muttiah Muralidharan and long live spin bowling and the "doosra".

Muttiah Muralitharan has invented his own few styles of bowling like "DOOSRA" and there after "TISHRA". But he used his weapons much carefully so that batsman never read the type of bowling he was going to bowl. He mainly likes off-break bowling with lots of flight. So that, batsman is attracted to step out from the crease to play the ball.
One day each of every great person has to say "GOOD BYE". I am really very happy to see that ultimately he has reached to his success by reaching the milestone of 800 test crickets.

Actually it is very difficult for any aged player to continue over 12-15 years of International Sports. And if it is test cricket of 5 days continuous, very few have the physical fitness to continue. Even bowlers can sustain a shorter career than any batsman.
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar knows very well when he should say GOOD BYE! As long as he like to play, he will play.
