I understand what you're saying, but I don't think you're going to convince anyone of anything. The people who truely believe in god aren't going to think about the reasons you provided. You can't control other people's faith or change it. You can only control your own. Trust me, majority of people on mylot are christian, or atleast somewhat religious. Things like this will start some heated discussions and spark some low ratings.

Religion seems to always be a sensitive topic. We should all respect each other's views regardless if the views aggree with our own. Abj163 is asking a question that has been asked since the beginning of Christianity. The great philosophers have tried to explain using logic while the spiritualist have based the explanation on faith in the word and in their beliefs. I think it is more important to understand truth than to worry about ratings.

abj I always thought that these disasters were from the hand of God to wake us up when we start to get too smart alecky for our own good. He is telling us he has the power and we had best shape up or ship out. He had given us this wonderful world to care for and live in and a lot of us did not take good care of it, so at times he raised his hand and shows us just who is boss and why we should be better people.

If disaster didn't happen in the past, then humans did not know now to deal with it, it is a lesson, to let humans prepare for the worst.God sometimes give things like these to let people know that he exist,to tell the people that you must repent now for Life is too short...and to also give lesson that nature must be take cared of,or/so Human must act and think How to prevent this disaster to more damage..and to the innocent i think they're the sacrificial lamb that god chose,in my own opinion they are in the hands of God..well that's my own views...thanks!

This also is a good explanation for the reason's god allows natural disasters. I guess we can say that these disasters are a continued reminder of our mortality and just how little control we have over our physical existence and may help us to examine and enhance our spirituality in preparation for the inevitable.

God is there since earthquake, tsunami are bound to happen and it is an wake up alarm for everybody that we should think good,do good and help others thats why its happenning. Also when in need you will get unknown help from others and that mean god is helping thru one source.

It is really a very valid question. the problem is that it is a question that has been debated for centuries by the great historical thinkers. It is one of the key questions upon which the science of philosophy is built. On the one hand, if god is truly omnipotent then he can stop bad things from happening. And on the other hand if god is ominipotent and allows bad things to happen doesn't that make him malicious? While i cannot answer these questions for you with any degree of validity, i can let you know that your not alone in your thoughts about this phenomenon

Natural calamities are to prove that, there is really power above all. Thu technology and science had gone too far and beyond imaginations, still, there is no device or weapon ever created to stop or prevent thunder and lightning, storm and typhoon,or even to scale and when earthquake strike. Those calamities serves as a wake up call that, there is really GOD,and we humans are not intelligent enough to understand the power of GOD. If GOD allows people to die from those calamities,it is becoz,it is the human's fault why there is landslides when storm comes. And,it is to let us know that,we don't own our lives. The sunrise and sunset is enough proof that there is GOD. Not everyone is lucky to see the sunset or see the next morning in their lives. I know it's not easy to convince unbeliever that there is GOD. It depends on each individual to know in their hearts that there is really unseen power that create the world and the human kind. Have a wonderful weekend

Maybe it is God's way of remining humans that He is in control of everything, that he is all powerful and everything. Sometimes, He needs to allow these tragedies to knock His people's heart that we should start believing in Him, because He can take away everything if He wants, or also give us what we want if He wants. However intelligent, rich or famous people are, God can take it away from them in just a snap. These tragedies are constant reminder of His presence, and His power.

To look from the scientific view I can say that nature is only returning to humans all they have done to nature. Everything that happens is a consequence of a certain action taken by humans. The world is in ecological crisis and we must blame no other than ourselves. As from the religious point of view, it is written in the Bible that many disasters, e.g earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, volcanoes are going to precede the end of the world.

it's the matter of faith. some natural disasters do have reasons for them to occur. But seriously, I myself also not very sure of God's existence. For me religions are only a morality guidelines for human being which should not be brought up as agenda to hate others who not in the same religion as they are. Also, if we see back during the European Dark Ages, religion are made tool by human kind to gain power of governments. It's not wrong to believe and also it's wrong to be so fanatic about religion. abj163, do you had this question upon your mind which mostly will be like wondering why are we breathing and how air existence and why we breath air instead of other things that exist (which we see and not only feel it's present). In my opinion, God do exist, and perhaps currently overseeing what are we all doing now. Just that religion made the system of belief differs each others mindset. The reason why if you wonder about natural disasters occur, perhaps the answer should be within ourselves and what we already did.

Hello abj163, My friend you are right why god don't stops natural disasters?? first thing is that god is not in heaven , he is in our believe. Not power in god , power in our believe.Nature is most powerful in this universe and all done by nature. Nature is really god.Nature is reality and god is our just believe. Secondly thing is that why we need god ?? So answer of that is if we don't believe on god than we will go to wrong way. Now we are afraid from god name and keep away from wrong works(not all keep away but some one). Its necessary to secure our social life. In addition when we are in trouble we get power from god name. Its just our believe who give us power to face problem and solve it, nothing else.Believe on god is not bad but all hopes on god is not good.If you believe on your self then you don't need believe on any thing even god also. And in last my friend you did not hurt anyone, its just same like as people believe on different religion , they have different believe, So you can also believe as you like.
