What do you expect from politicians?

Hello,
I know some of you actually hate politics. Especially the young generation today is apathetic about politics. No matter how hard we try to stay like that the politics is going to affect every moment of our life. We need to be aware of what is going around our own tiny world. Sometimes it becomes necessary to peek into this outer world no matter how ugly things appear to us. If we just stay indifferent the things will never change. But if we get involve and freely express our opinions and then discuss about it then there is a high possibility that we may spread a political consciousness among our friends. My personal expectations from a politician is something like this,
1. Don't lie
We know that you have obligations. Please stay silent if you can tell the truth and we will understand everything. But for god's sake, don't lie so unabashedly.
2. Don't make unnecessary policies
Implement things that will affect the nation in sme positive way. Don't spend the taxpayers money in making futile policies that don't give any result in the end.
3. Don't just do anything to get to the position.
We know you need our vote to get your chair. We appreciate all forms of reservations. We also understand why you suddenly become a 'reformer' before the election. But please don't do these things. We don't want you to over react. Just be yourself. Take care of us and leave the matters of election on us.
4. Don't play the blame game
Trying to elevate yourself by humiliating others is a foolish thing to do. We are not novice. You are not getting paid to blame everything on the opposition. We are more interested in what you are doing. So quite playing the blame game now.
5. Know your constitution.
Read the entire book. The book only costs around %5 or less. Please read it before commenting on anything.
6. Oppose only when its absolutely necessary
If you are in opposition, that doesn't necessarily mean that opposing is your sole duty. Learn to encourage people who are taking useful initiatives for the well being of the nation.
7. Be a leader so that we may follow.
The nation needs a true leader. If you are a leader, we will humbly follow you. So please don't do anything that may lead us right into the manhole. Be righteous.
There are many others that I would like to mention, but I really want to hear more from you. Please feel free to express your ideas.
What are your expectations from today's politicians?

What do I expect from a politicians? Not a g-ddamned thing. They lie to get in office and the they forget about the common man when they get in office!so expect nothing to change or get done.

Hey Sarah,
Please don't say that. Why are you giving up all expectations? Thats not right at all. I can propose a solution right now. I think we should spank them hard so that they can't keep their butt on the office chair for much longer. Please don't be so angry. We will do something about it.

Did I seem angry? I am not. I live near Washington D.C. so I can see the liars up close. I don't expect anything from them except lies but I am not angry. I am just used to ignoring what they say and seeing what they do or should I say what they don't do!

Like others was said I do not wait much from politicans. First they can end corruption and stealing. It would be nice If they stop lying and do something finally. They can do something in export field make working factories. Also be good If they would make free job places. Next what they can do is follow to leader rules. I want see results not heard empty words. Yes they can stop playing this game. Also most important thing now.. They can increase salary's. But, I think all depends from us what will be in future. You know, I sometimes think that something must be wrong with the chairs. I mean we elect our representatives and they turn into a different being after being elected. Now thats weird. Whoever takes the office start acting weird. May be we need to reform the system first or elect only those who have the ability to do the same. Thanks.

I would personally recommend some young and highly educated people for those jobs. Of course, a higher education doesn't guarantee any sincerity or honesty. But it certainly reduces the risk and well educated persons are expected to be more flexible and aware. Thanks once again for your contribution.

Yes It is weird. In nowadays It is hard to believe whose deputations would be better. If we choose new they wouldn't be better maybe in begin, but after months, or year they too make same mistakes. I think we need choose new people whose brains is working, because in my country all deputations is very old and can't repair economic system. God bless you too!

This is all easier said that done, and I have met a few politicians and can tell you that most of them cannot live up to these standards, they can try, but often than not they will not succeed in being the great leader that everyone wants them to be.

Hi,
Well, I still don't believe that one can't stay honest if he wishes so. Politics is not for weak people like that. One must have great respect and faith in democracy. One should be a good human being before even attempting to be a good leader. The job is difficult, so we need only strong and able people here. Most of the politicians are in politics just because they are looking for personal gains in some form. These people are the ones who made politics so unpopular especially among young people. Thanks.

I think the simple thing that I expect from a politician is that he should be a leader to a nation. As a leader he should be responsible for every one in the nation or at least all the people he represents!!
All other attributes follows if you are real leader thinking about the welfare of the people you represent. Unfortunately most politicians think these days about their own welfare, even the good work they do is when they feel it is necessary for them to get the votes!!

Good,good..I think almost the same with you. We expect them NOT only to GIVE PROMISE, but ACT. They said that they would fight for people and bla bla bla but after they are elected, they soon forget what they promised during the campaign.Politics is about HOW TO SERVE PEOPLE, not HOW TO BE SERVE We also hope that they can be good example. No matter they have different political ideology but please HAVE RESPECT for your oppositions. I agree, oppose when it is needed. If the policy is good, just support it.

I don't expect anything from a politician. Cause it's a nature for a politician to gain place in the government to have power, gain wealth and position in the community. That's why I not even vote once in my life.
Cause I know, there's no perfect politician.

Hi,
It simply means that you are indifferent. But have you watched the movie whence the avatar of your is taken from? The movie is called 'V for vendetta', as far as I can remember. The movie comes with a message of active participation of the commoners in political matters. When the entire system collapse we should stand tall and reverse the disintegration. But how are we supposed to do that if we remain politically indifferent and inactive? There is no perfect politician, probably because of the fact that there is no perfect human being. But there is always a trade off that can be maintained. The opinion of the people is the true essence of democracy. Thanks so much for this wonderful response.

I really don't expect anything from them . I think they all need a major jerking up. I think they could change their way of living & try to live like us 'poor folks' do & they might make major changes which i think they need to do.

Hi,
What you've mentioned here is something of great importance. How can a person who has never faced distress himself can assist the distressed? This is completely irrational. Some of these politicians even make policies intending to benefit someone that they never actually met in person. In order to know the people one must personally visit them and listen to their grievances. How can that ever happen if these politicians remain so firmly glued to their chairs? I expect politicians to do what is right for our country. I expect them to live up to promises they keep. if they can not fulfill an obligation or promise to the people they govern, they should not make it in the first place. Reputation is so important in politics. It is dificult to know who is right and who is wrong in the political world. We expect our politicians to be honest with us. I'm not really like to talk about politic. It suppose to be doing something good for the citizen but I don't know why it end up with lots of negative comments on it. For me, I will think that politicians should do something that can contribute to the nation's development and the citizens' rights, both of them should be balanced. But what I see today most of them are just fighting for their own benefits, thinking about how to make other party down. They should be transparency on what they are really doing with all the taxpayers' money.

politicians are actually for providing the right path and to be the leader of the nations. But now-a-days politicians are meant for own progress. Politicians should be honest. Every politicians demands that they will improve the country and the way of living of the people. If these are true then why so much political parties are here? What we need? We need some honest and truly working people to be the leader of the country. On whom we can depend and keep faith. Politicians are need to be pure from mind. They need to judge themselves before they make any promise to the nation.

I don't expect that much from polititians. I know that a few of them mean well and do try to get the things they say the ywill do done. But the majority of them just do whatever they want after they win the election. So as long as my poltitians don't make any drastic and life changing (for the worse) dicisions, I'm pretty fine wit hwhatever they do.

Hi,
Well, no matter how we doubt their credibility, they will still be holding important positions in the government. They take policies that may immediately benefit the nation. They are endowed with immense responsibility. Some of them take drastic and unscrupulous decisions that harm our society in the long run. No matter how we ignore them, their policies will go on affecting our daily lives. Even if we sincerely wish to stay calm and indifferent, we can't deny the consequences of their actions. What I want in a politician is someone who will able to listen and take action. Who do not promise,but take action instead. Who are not blinded by the money he earned but looking clearly or seeing clearly the true problems of the government. Who give a jobs to jobless, who give free education to grade school and highschool to public and poor people. Who knows his priorities and that is his people first before himself. Who are not easy to be fooled by advicers and some allies. Who are fair, who are industrious and being true to himself.

i expect a lot from them.. with how the previous administration showed the filipino how dirty politics is, i am hoping that the current administration will regain the true definition of politicians.. i expect that they'd keep up to their promises, to work on it, and to make actions for it.. that's what the politicians have right now, more talk, less action... they keep on talking and talking without even making some actions... talk without walk is nothing... so they should learn how to walk when they talk..
