as it is too much heart ache. When cats go missing you get worried until you find out that they are at home again safe and sound. But when a person comes to your door and says your cat has been killed and you are not sure if it is your cat or a neighbours cat as they are identical is awful. He had a micro chip so the husband took the cat to the vets and they confirmed really what i had known he was mine.I am upset that it was my cat, but at the same time pleased that he was micro chipped as we know for sure.I have 4 cats now, never getting anymore as it is too much heart ache when they die.

We too have stopped buying cats and dogs or any pet for that matter. It is very hard when they grow old and die in what seems to be quite a short time. I still tend to say "hello" to a pet if I see one when out and about. They all have their own characters and can be interesting and even funny at times. _Derek

Our pets are part of our families. I know it feels so badly when you lose one of them. I am glad you know for sure that it is your cat and that you will not have to wonder anymore. I have often said that I will never get another pet... however when I see a stray dog that can use a good home I am a sucker!

I am the same as you,as that is how i got my dog,i was a sucker as she was going to be destroyed if we had not given her a home.We also got a few cats over the years aswell from cat rescue aswell as from a friend from cat rescue ,as she told me that they had ran out of room for two cats,so i said yes i would have them and we had to travel to get them, well worth the trip as they were going to the vets the next day.

The cats are animal very independent, his instincts continue preserving and only they are with the persons for interest, nothing to see with the dogs. To part they live in general in the street and are night. But I respect all those persons that he likes the cats as pet and when one has a pet, it endears very much this one and produces a great pain when they die.

NO dear, just try to teach them to stay at home and give them that surgery to not have babies anymore cause poor other cats on the streets right?
Mine couple doesn't go out ever. Even the male choosed to stay inside.
If they have enough love and can play with you, they will have no reason to want to go out. We have so many animals suffering on the streets, don't be an animal lover that will give up, we are a few already.
Must hurt a lot I presume, cats grow to be like children for us. So sorry :D
Blessings!

I think you are wrong there as my cats have more than enough love as we of a family of 8 people spend alot of time with our cats aswell as we have them all micro chipped and regular check ups at the vets.Granted there are alot of people out there that have cats aswell as many other pets that they get and then after a while do not spend time with them. All my cats have been sorted so they are unable to get pregnant or get other cats pregnant.I have cats here that i have got from cats rescue centres aswell. My cats have a cat flap,so if they want to go in my garden that is enclosed by a six foot fence they can,the same as if they want to come in and stay in,it is their choice.

I don't think I'll want another cat when mine die as well, you have cats for so long that you get really close to them.
They are a big commitment and there's a lot of cleaning up to do after them, litter trays are definitely the least fun part of owning a cat. it's a big commitment and must be really heart wrenching when they go.

that is why it is better to keep ur pets indoors. just keep them entertained with their favorite toys. my cat enjoys his cat tree and scratch box as well as he likes to hang out with me on the couch and bed.

I have children,so they tend to leave the doors open aswell as the windows on hot days aswell as cold days,so the cat would still get out.I have cats that were also out door cats when i got them so they are used to going in and out, so that would be unfair to keep them indoors.

We lost three last year, 2 to old age and one to illness, we have no gotten any more but I do miss having cats in the house. I have always had them and truly love cats. We are getting older and don't want to start with a kitten again, we don't want to out live the cat and have to have someone else take it on. So maybe we will get a rescue soon.

Sorry for the plight of your cat; I too have 3 cats and when they don't come home, like you I'm very much worried. Of my 3 cats, only one do roam for a very long time. The other 2 just stay at our vicinity. You can have another cat if you adapt one.

That's what I said too after losing my cats that I loved so much. We have taken in many of our cats when they were still little kittens, so spending with them nearly all my free time, I basically became their mother. Even though cats are generally thought to be cunning animals, they can be so caring and loving, an important member of the family. Cats, however, love wandering off no matter what, and sometimes they and up at places where they shouldn't be... like in the garden of the neighbor who would (and did) kill them just because he can't stand seeing them. Losing all my cats over the years, I really feel like being cursed (if it's not the neighbor, it's a car, or they simply get lost), and refuse to keep any more animals so that neither me nor they would suffer.

I think that there are alot of cruel people in the world, who just do not like animals/any pets.If someone was to have killed my cat as in on purpose then i would have called the rspca or the police and they would have acted on this, either that or gave them a smack.I feel sorry for you having a person like that who lives near you.

Sorry for your loss I know how that feels as my cat went missing and is still missing for 4 years now but I hope she is safe and somebody adopted her. All you can do now is heal your heart from your loss even though the scars will remain and that will be a reminder of how much you loved your cat. Also you must take measurements to see how you can reduce the chances of that happening. Do you know how your cat was killed? Was it an accident, was he hit by a car or something? Maybe try to make your cats' surroundings safer, I know cats roam around a lot but perhaps keep them in your garden or something or close to your house, you'd know how to do this better as I don't know what kind of place you live in.

he had a microchip. i never heard any one in my country where we can bring our cat or any animal to have a microchip in them. was it under the skin of the cat. anyways. i know it is sad to have cats or pets die. i have a cat, but still young, and i am not planning to have any more after this one because of that reason that i become so emotionally attached and also i don't like to care for a cat any more. i don't want the responsibilities specially i think that i can't give them what they need any ways.

Hey jugs, I feel your heart ache.
I now have my two cats permanently house bound. the vet said it was the best thing as there is lots of traffic and wild animals to kill my cats.
They were used to roaming in Montana and when I brought them here, they too were allowed to prowl.
I got worried when my hussie cat started vomiting and took her to the vet. She only had worms but after two trips to the vet, she finally is worm free but she is housebound as is my other cat Flash.
The problem being, no grass for them to eat.
I have been pulling up grass by the roots and putting the grass in two containers in this house and they are enjoying that.
I have also planted two containers of oats. I've done this before in Montana when snow was on the ground for 8-9 months of the year and they loved them.
I feel so sorry for you and know how you feel. I wish I could hug you.
Take care and maybe consider keeping those four cats inside?
God bless,
quita
