I have practically read and listened to all the diet tips that i came across of. from television to magazines, to researching to the internet and to discussions with friends about how to diet and by experimenting myself on the food i eat. and other things i can thing of, all seems not working out for me. not because they are not effective but because i may not have followed them religiously or have just followed the few things and have gone wrong in so many other ways.
so for me i think that the diet tips that i have been hearing or reading have not been showing difference in my body at all. so i think i better do more than what i have been doing already. i may be quite irritated on lack of result but i am still determined to keep going with my diet.

i will try to do more exercise i think that doing some weights is better than walking in having a good body. or being in right shape. anyways, i think it is not that hard to do that. i will just have to learn how to prioritize things and squeeze that into my schedule.

exercise is the best way to maintain health.....there is only one rule for exercise according to ancient indian yogis...just exercise anything untill you starts sweating ....and sweats a lot......i just go to the gym everyday and my body is in nice shape and i am fit i dont get sick thats the advantage of exercise but diet is also important with exercise

You might want to go to a Dr. and make sure you don't have a thyroid condition or diabetes or something first. If you're loosing 2 1/2 lbs a week or loosing at all, that's effective. But if you loose too much per week, that's not good, like more than 5 lbs per week can be dangerous. If you're going by how you fit in your clothes, that can take a month. A lot of people have unreasonable expectations. It took me 12 weeks to get the weight I wanted off and the actual changes I wanted. Take care

Well, that would be the problem! Now you've identified it. So what are you going to do about it?
The reduction diet is interesting. You eat whatever quantity of food you want for one day. You record all the foods and figure out your calorie intake. Then you gradually cut back. Like say you record 3 thousand calories. But you're supposed to be at 2 thousand (just pulling #s out of the air). So one week, you do 2,750 and the next week, 2,500. The following week, 2,250. The following week, 2,000 and maintain at 2,000 while upping your exercise or activity level. That can be taking stairs instead of an elevator or anything like that.
For the record, ice cream has a wicked pull on me, too. Thanks and take care.

i think i will find it hard to lose weight because food has a big pull on me. i can't just say no to food for now. ha ha. but at least i keep my food choices on healthy foods only. like chicken and fish but i don't cut off on my food intake like the quantity of food.

Oh this is bad! ha ha i mean for me.. not all diet works. even exercises... i just gain weight so much quicker than others, and i do think that i eat like everyone else, but i am heavier than everyone else! grrr..
anyway, last time i tried not to eat so much lunch and i lost 1 pund in 1 week, so what i am doing now is to eat breakfast (a heavy one) eat bread in the afternoon and drink lots and lots of water... and 1 green tea servings too... i sure hope this would work for me.
oh, by the way the no rice diet also was effective when i was in college. i lost about 25 pounds then in about a year just by not eating rice in every meal!!

I think your problem could be too much information.. and not all of it is right. I had this problem when I first began trying to lose weight. Some "experts" say to lower your carb intake, other "experts" say lower your fat.. I even read one book that said protein isn't all that important!!
And all those "experts" were wrong!! Your body needs carbs and fat in order to fuel itself. If you stop eating carbs your body will burn lean muscle mass. If you stop eating fat your body will stop burning fat.
The key is NOT to diet! Dieting never works, because you can't stick with a diet!
What you should do instead is work on eating healthier. Get plenty of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean meats and cut back on snacks and junk food.. but don't deprive yourself of your favorite foods or you'll make yourself miserable, just eat them in moderation.
Then.. exercise!! It's the best thing for your body.
I lost 75 pounds by watching what I eat and getting at least an hour of exercise everyday. Now I am not trying to lose anymore weight.. I just want to maintain my new body. I'm no longer really strict about what I eat... but I'm still exercising at least 5 days a week, so I'm not gaining any weight back.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

yeah i think i need to add exercise to see any difference besides choosing my food carefully and adding fruits. weeks ago i did add many fruits in my diet. maybe i stopped for a while eating fruits but at least i am not eating unhealthy foods also.
and yes it is quite hard to know which one is true. as some experts will claim one thing and the other reports will say another thing and leave us clueless which one is true.
and sometimes i become more obsess in learning more new tips and findings that actually going into the diet itself. and so i have spent more time reading and sitting in front of the computer than actually doing a right exercise for my body which will help me lose weight.

I rarely diet. Why? Because I never seem to be able to stick to my diet plan for more than two days. I tried the no carbohydrate diet. I also tried the before six pm dinner diet. I did not lose weight in any of these diets. So now, I just eat moderately and go to the gym three times a week. This way, I don't get fat. At least with this plan of mine, I am still able to indulge in carbohydrates and sweets.

I'm also on a diet. I don't really follow any strict plan. I was 180 pounds when i started and now at 160 and I'm on my 6th week. My goal weight is 130 so that's 30 pounds more to go. If you noticed i shed a lot of pounds in my first month but now I'll be lucky if i lose 2 pounds in a week and that's normal. In fact based on that healthy way of losing i'll be 130 pounds around next year that is if i keep pushing. And 10 pounds loss is not even noticeable.... i still look fat. So what I'm saying is it does take a lot of time i mean we don't gained all those weight in a day or even a month so why expect to lose it in a couple of weeks.
Maybe you need to ask yourself what was the longest time you stick to a program and what made you quit????? Because right now the biggest difference in me is I accepted the fact that i will have to watch my diet and exercise the rest of my life to be healthy. Its not really bad i can still eat all the food I want 1300 calories a day is a lot of food.
Good luck!!

You are on the right track ,Keep on trying.By eating high fiber and exercising you are sure to loose weight.Even if you cheat here and there. Your attitude towards diets sounds discouraging though ,I think you are positive enough to make the changes needed for you.
Any fad diets are useless + you normally put more on when finished then you lost.
Figuring out what is good for you is the key. Listening to others is just down right confusing after time. I have a rule that most cannot stick to that helps me.If I cannot read it ,I will not eat it.This helps me to eat whole foods verses processed things.
No doubt your on the right track .You just need to find something that will keep you strong and motivated.Exercise is essential skinny, heavy or in between .Exercising promotes all over good health from physical to mental.Having muscle also helps you burn more calories .Good Luck To You!

Well, I tried implementing some dieting tips by an expert who gave articles in the newspaper. But after a month of no-great-results, I reverted back to my older habits to pamper my tastebuds. Because life's short- I don't lke to die like a man who never eats fatty stuff and my mom's an excellent chef.
Happy mylotting.
Regards,
Ajith.

Make sure you get the right information and you know your body and/or health well. Not all tips fit everyone. Just know the basic. Be equipped with the knowledge and make it appropriate to you. Do some changes. After all, it's you who knows your body well.
*a minute tip from a nurse here.

There are tons of different diets out there, and more are created every day. Some of these diets work, and some of them don't, that is just a fact. So I always encourage people who want to loose weight to meet with a professional, such as a doctor, in order to help them make a detailed plan, that is tailormade especially for them. This will work for sure, and give you the best and healthiest results. So go see a doctor!

yeah it seems what works for some people don't necessarily mean it will work for other people or for me. i am hoping to find out a diet that will be tailored just for me so that i can lose weight successfully. but i feel that i must do lots of exercise to lose a lot of weight faster.

One thing i learn and that I tell everyone I know is that eating healthly and dieting are two very different things.Dieting does not work for most people because (as you mentioned yourself) you are most going to fail at keeping up with all the "rules".Also, some diets don't have a big variety and you could end up with a nutrtional deficiency because you're probable told not to eat a lot of things.Another thing, don't buy light/diet stuff because there are a lot of chemicals in it to make it less caloric and to be health you want to be eating food that is as close to its natural state as possible.

that is true. before when i was younger i can usually go on a diet very easily with out much struggle but the problem is that i have don't have healthy food choices so it really was not good for my health.and now i think that it is more important to see that i have healthy food choices than just dieting down or cutting down on food . before i can eat small amount of food or can each like once a day but i was like malnourished and i just eat mostly foods deprived of vitamins and other healthy foods. now i am making sure if i go on a diet that the food i eat will be very healthy and rich in anti oxidants.

I also feel hopeless, following diet tips in magazines, the internet or from friends. I always feel like a failure. I did not find any change in my weight. I was very tired to go on a diet. Now I am not trying hard diet. I'm just trying to eat food that is not greasy.

They've been of little use to me. The thing that people really need is WILL POWER. Without that you could read a million tips and be getting fatter. Instead of sitting and reading, hit the gym with your best music for an hour or two every single day. That sort of worked for me until I lost motivation again. Meh not fussed with diets anymore life's too short :P
