I had a really indepth session with my counselor today. Some how we got on the subject of my grandmother. My grandparents were in their late 80's when they passed away. While they were alive there get togethers at my grandparent's home every Sunday afternoon. My aunt and uncle,my nephew and niece and my two cousins. It is like ghosts hovering around my room this evening. My grandmother wore a green dress and used Noxzema on her face. I remember the smell of her very well. My grandfather always wore a boret and an old fashioned brown jacket with grey slacks. I can see them in my mind's eye as if it were yesterday. My grandfather didn't care for children much. He was grumpy when I came around most times. I remember he was painting the garage and I got him to let me help him. I made him laugh when I told him what was in the mud pies I made for him for his lunch. I had put eggs in it fresh out my grandmother's chicken coup. Do you remember some funny story about your family from when you were a child? I hope you will share it with us.

hi celticeagle when I was little I wanted to be a nurse, as my daddy was ther town doctor. So I had a tin headed doll with a cavity inside her I guess it was a heavy cloth body. So I was always pretending the doll was sick so I would make up pretend medicines and stuff them into her mouth and of cou rse they settled in her innards. well one day my mom who was a sweet gentle woman picked up Old Alice which is what I had named my doll. She said" what on earth did you give to Alice? This smells really bad." I told her I made some medicine out of the onion leaves from that days lunch. In truth I had bruised the leaves and poked them into her tin mouth and they then resided inside her., They were starting to mold. My mom told me, well honey we must do surgery as that is not good for your doll. So I was really willing to go along with that.So my mom got her sharp sewing scissors, first I made her put something to numb the poor dolls pain, and she smeared vicks on it and assured me my Anne would not feel a thing, then she opened her up and pulled out the horribly smelling moldey onion leaves and threw them in the trash. She dusted Alice's insides with some baking soda to to get rid of the residual stink. Then more vicks before she put in the stitches to sew my old Alice back together again. I never did forget this and I am now 84.wow.

When I was really little, I used to put on "singing shows" for my grandparents. They used to watch me sing and dance for hours. I remember them giggling, because I was singing a song about a rainbow to them, and about how every time you chase it, the further away it gets. I was about 4 at the time. My grandfather passed away two years ago. He was my best friend. It is really good to see that people still care about family!!
