Company only arrives when the house is at its worst

Anyone else have this issue? It bothers me too because no one ever calls before they arrive or they call when they are literally almost to my house! I can have the house spotless for a week straight and no one will want to come over and then the one day that it looks like a tornado has struck, everyone is stopping by! GRRR!!!! And the same thing with phone calls! No one calls unless I am busy or asleep. Do these people have a silent radar that I can't detect?

Do you mean that visitors always arrive when you are not well prepared for their arrival, and their phone calls are not at the correct time either? It really bothers. But I think it can only explained as coincidence. Maybe a little psychological factor too. Always unhappiness can be amplified by our mind, you may feel it happens everyday but it only has happened a few times in fact.

I was just discussing this with my boyfriend. We both don't like it when people just drop by without calling first. I too will have my house spotless for a long period of time but these unexcepted guest will walk in as if a tornado has just touched down. What is that all about? I, first of all would never go to someone house uninvited. I think its very rude to do this. I don't understand why people think its ok to do this. As for my phone it always has a habit of ringing when I'm just about to sit down to eat. Why is that? I wish I knew. I have stopped answering the phone completely while eating. I will call back later if its important.

I have done that as well, stopped answering the phone but I have even gone as far as not answering the door if I don't want company. My husband wanted to disable our doorbell and I didn't want him to because I have a hard time hearing when someone knocks if I am in the bedroom. I am thinking of getting a sign to hang outside though, if I can find one. People are so rude!

Maybe so. The worst part though is that we never have time to do what needs to be done it seems so we're always rushing around at the last minute. I would rather play with my son than clean...lol That's my problem. haha

The easiest solution is to keep it spotless 24/7!
Either that or move to an isolated locatoin that noone in their right mind would want to drive to..
Oorrrr. More time-specific friends!
Busy? Mute your phone?
Asleep? Unplug your phone line, then!
I personally wouldn't mind people popping over whenever for the most part.. but there are just soommme days it's nice to not have to deal with anyone!

Haha well.. i'm out of ideas then!
Perhaps more isolated. maybe moving on top of a mountain that people would have to climb & you can just get an elevator installed to go from top to bottom whenever you want? And hey. If people still come over to see you since they have to climb a mountain then kudos to you and I wouldn't ignore dedicated friends like that lol ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

Fortunately, I do not usually have too much company arriving at my house, and I prefer it this way. I don't mind having a few friends drop by on occasion, but I do not want people hanging around all the time. Most of the time, I would rather be here alone just relaxing with my puppy dogs.

Our rule in the house is to keep the living room area clean. It's hard to enforce that at times with the kids because bring out toys during most of the day. I really don't have many people come over by surprise. I used to a few years ago but things have changed so I don't mind. I always leave the house pretty much clean if I go out so when I come back I won't have to clean and at night the same thing goes. So whether you catch me walking in the door or in the early morning it should meet inspection.

I don't mind unexpected visitors, especially if I haven't seen and talked to them in a long time. Having people visit me are always pleasant surprises and makes me feel loved. I guess it's also because there are people who fixes the house for me, and I don't mind people seeing the house in disarray. It's a reality that houses do get untidy. And it's not like the untidiness is unhygienic. It's just mostly the stuff we normally use (like the sofa and throw pillow) are everywhere. Throw pillows on the floor, the mattresses of the sofas are on the floor, the coffee table is swept on the side to make room for the sofa mattresses on the floor. Trinkets on the coffee table are on the floor or on another (crowded) table to make room for the laptops. Pieces of paper are strewn on the floor because we were working on something. Stuff like that. but I and my guests don't mind the mess. Of course when they arrive, I have to put back the sofa mattresses because the wooden frame is hard on the butt. ![](/Content/images/emotes/rofl.gif)
