I suggest you visit Bangkok, Thailand. Yummy food, cheap clothes, sweet fruits. I've been there 4-5 times already and I still want to come back because of their food and fruits. There are lots of cheap hotels that is very near to the shopping area and restaurants and one of them is four seasons my favorite place to stay.

You might like an exciting trip to Hong Kong or Singapore where you could do some shopping plus see the sights. You could fly there on a plane. When there you could stay at the youth hostel on the top of Mount Davis. The views from there in the night time are amazing.
If you and your friends prefer a quiet and relaxing week you might like to visit Thailand or Malaysia. You could fly there on a plane then travel on local trains, buses and ferries. Perhaps you could have three days in the city sightseeing and then four days by the coast.
I hope that you manage to find a suitable destination to visit with your friends.

leniesoriano,
No offense, I really do not see how you will actually get the answer you want when you do not tell us more about your friend and most of all yourself.
Since the both of you are going to spend a considerable amount of money for this holiday trip, I am sure you will be looking at having an enjoyable time and do the very things that you all like, to gain full satisfaction.
As I am not aware of what the both of you would really like, I hope that before you start your plans scouring for the best deal, I think it would be good to have some form of discussion on the following:
1. Country
2. Mode of travel
3. Main type of holiday - shopping, relaxing, sightseeing
4. Budget
I believe, that only after considering the above will the both of you have a better idea of what you all should look for. So, start doing your homework here.
Have a great weekend.

Hi leniesoriano!
When I do have a little extra which could accommodate a small travel budget for six my planned departure would have to be around november when the children are having their holidays as well. As we live in the city I tend to choose the country side where we could all appreciate a different environment as we rest and learn at the same time. Right now I am thinking of either Malaysia or Indonesia to spend a few days in a homestay with visits to a nearby paddy fields, plantations or a local farm which I thought would make for a wonderful eco-tourism experience.
