Friends on 24th July 1985, exactly 45 years ago, I had faced a severe road accident, that shattered the acetabular of my left hip to 8 pieces.
I was driving a scooter at a low speed, my maximum speed is 50 kms per hour,
THIS IS THE MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE SPEED AS PER RULES.
It was raining, the front wheel fell into a ditch on the road, it was water filled, I was thrown forward.
My brother in law was on the pillion seat, nothing happened to him. He took me to the Medical College Hospital, I was senseless, bleeding on forehead, I did not wear helmet. But the traffic police detained the vehicle in which I was; because a VVIP was coming to the city.
We reached their 8 hours late, I was alive, X-ray revealed the fracture on the hip only, there was no damage to head, and the wound on forehead was external. I had to wear a plaster cast from chest to toe for 3 months. I could walk after 6 months only. Now also I have problem in sitting on floor and I can’t squat.
Have you or any member in your family faced any severe or minor accident of any kind, may not be road accident.
Do the vehicles are detained if some VVIP has to pass on a road?
Please share.

I assume you mean 25 years? Or 1965?
Anyway, in 2003 my husband and I were driving to Las Vegas for our 20th anniversary. He was driving, and I was reading. I had reclined the seat a bit, because it was more comfortable for my back. Leaving Baker, which is approximately the halfway point, there is a long upgrade. The traffic in front of us stopped, we stopped, the car behind us stopped, but 2 cars back, they didn't see in time. They hit the car behind us and pushed them into us. It had an impact on my lower back. At the time, I thought the pain had just flared up my fibromyalgia, but as it turned out, it damaged a disk in my spine. It was pretty painful until about 2 years ago, when I found a treatment that was really helpful.

The most memorable moment for me is when i was in eight standard. One day we decided to go for a wet picnic.we were eight in groups.so we hired one big vehicle and went very far from our place where there was a big speed flowing river.we sat and refreshed for a while..after that every one was given their own works to do like some went for getting firewoods, some started cutting vegetables, etc.finally,we finished all our works and started dancing with musics. As every one was very exhausted after the whole work and wanted to take food .so i went to the river to wash plates.suddenly,i got slipped into the river. luckily, one of my friend he knew how to swim and he saved me.other wise i would have got drowned.thats the most memorable moment .

hi professor. Yes It was not a road accident but an accident right beside my favorite restaurant where I was going out for breakfast on my day off. Sadly I never made it inside the restaurant nor did I get my treat. There was a slight sloping place by the sidewalk beside the restaurant. The slope had a film of greasy water on it from having had the kitchen mopped I guess. I got up and for some reason, I think there was an odd bump in the sidewalk, I walked up a few feet onto this slight slope, my one foot slipped, I tripped I guess over my own foot but anyway I had a horrid fall.
I landed on my left shoulder. My wholelife at that moment was changed.
I tried to put my two hands down to push myself up onto my feet. But alas
my left arm would not obey my brain, I could not even get to my feet. I had maybe a dozen looky lous who just gawped but one couple came to me and saw I was badly hurt, Myleft knee was bleeding and badlyh bruised but something dreadful had happened to my left shoulder. The husband of the couple used his cellphone to call the para medics while the wife and their little boy stood by me to comfort me. He asked me if I hurt and I reassured him that probably I had just dislocated my shoulder. I really did think it was that simple. but the paramedics told me they did not want to leave me wondering around hurt and woiuld take me to the er. of the hospital I belonged to. So I gave in. It was a wise move as my shoulder bones were crushed, they could not even set the bones. I had to have shoulder joint replacement surgery.Even after months of physical theraphy I have not got back the full range of motion in my left arm. but I do manage to cope as I am right handed but before I was ambidexterous which I no longer am. I guess this is a permanent change but at least I am alive and kicking. The paramedics thought I had also broken my knee. One of them said to theother, I have never seen such a severe bruising on a knee u nless the leg is broken. but I lucked out on that.My knee was just wrenched and bruised. It really did hurt too.

dear professor,
that was a very unfortunate event. being in a plaster cast must have been very depressing as everything that you usually do had to be halted. i remember you saying you were supposed to go abroad on a speaking engagement but that too didn't push through due to the accident.
i have had small accidents also in vehicles but nothing very serious; just bumps and cuts. the most serious of all was a burn on the back of my right leg wherein the scar remains until now. and that i got one christmas eve!
take care now. and have a nice day.
