Hi, I got nasty viruses this past few days and today, I just noticed that I can't listen to music from my playlists neither watch Youtube clips, because there is no sound. I went to check my sound proprieties and I have a message that there are no audio devices. I don't know how to repair this problem, but I think that I have some nasty viruses problems again and this morning my Avast detected some nasty trojans or something, well it is in the quarantine area. The virus in the quarantine is KBL2elad.dll and it is located on C:/Windows and the virus is Win32:Hilot(Trojans). I don't know if I should delete this virus or not? I am wondering if someone here can give me a quick advice about this virus and what should I do. Also, how to repair my sound problem. Thank you, I thought I deleted all the virus problems with all the scans and removal. Maybe, I deleted files that I should of kept. I think it is time for me to bring my PC to a professional technician before I start my semester at University in about 1 month from now.

Hi friends! We all used to know viruses in every problem we have as guilty! I agree that they are in many cases and I agree to what the others suggest you. Here is my opinion as a professional in virus world: You say that you can’t see any audio device. So it is most probably a hardware problem. After installing, updating and scanning your system with a good AV (ESET, Kaspersky, …) you may try another operating system on your PC. You can use a live OS (like ubonto linux, etc.) too see if the problem is with your hardware or not. Also you may try the safe mode to see if the sound device exist there (it will not work there!). You should press F8 when starting your PC for the available options. I hope you will solve it yourself. I believe finding the source of the problem is more than 50% of solving it.

Hi, First, I don't know how to use linux, ect so I don't think I am gonna use those stuff. But, my sound is back to normal after restarting my PC two times yesterday and I have kept a virus in quarantine, because it is located on C/Windows and I am afraid of deleting it. If I do so, it might cause even more damages, so I will keep it and bring my computer to a technician. I just don't like to try fixing things with computers. Thanks.

OK, then. Whatever you want. So I was right about your problem. Your sound was not corrupted by virus. The quarantined dll file is not a system file of windows. So I'm pretty shure that you can delete it. Let me make it clear for you what is happening when a file is in quarantine. Actually your AV has locked the file for later scanning with new virus database. So it could not be used by any application including Windows itself. Consequently, I'm sure that you can delete it. If you want to be sure about the dll being a virus I suggest you uploading it to www.virustotal.com. there is an updated multi-AV system which will scan the file with 42 updated AV and show you the results. You can see which AV detect it and how. As I told you the dll is locked so even your browser can not touch it. You may disable your AV's realtime scanning for seconds to be able to upload it. And my last suggestion. well, i know you don't like to try fixing things with computers, but this way you won't learn anything on it. Try tampering with your softwares to learn more and more. On the contrary of a linux system, a Windows system is not stable enough to work for a long time. You have a record not changing your XP for 4 years. Soon you will need to completely reinstall it. Good luck!

Hi, I have deleted the virus in my quarantine and nothing has changed with my PC. It hasn't got worst nor better. As a matter of fact, last night I couldn't do anything on my PC, everything was always frozen. I couldn't use the Start button, neither using my antivirus neither open IE and Firefox, everything was all the time frozen. When I restart the computer, I get 2 warnings and a weird noise: the warnings are Rundll Error loading C:/Windows kbl2elad.dll : the specified module could not be found and the second warning is: Rundll Error loading C:/Windows/idavefogu.dll: the specified module could not be found. I don't know what that means, but it is really strange. So, last night, I have closed my PC all night and right now, this morning, I can use internet, I am using mylot right now, but still getting those two warnings. Also, I can't reformat my PC, because I never had any Windows XP CD. I bought my HP computer 4 years ago and the company( the sellor) and HP did not gave me any CD with the boxes. So, I can't reformat anything. Thanks for your advices though.

If it's too difficult to determine the files that was infected with virus and your anti virus software unable to eliminate the virus, the best option is to format your PC.

Hi, I just can't reformat my PC, because I never had the Windows XP CD included in my boxes when I bought my PC 4 years ago. The company from which I bought did not include the CD neither HP. I just don't how I will fix my problems, but I guess the only option I have, is to bring my computer to a professional. They will check it up and diagnose any problems and fix it.

In case of such nasty problems always reinstall your operation system. Don´t bother trying to repair it.

Hi there, Unfortunately, I can't reformat then reinstall my operating system which is Windows XP, because I don't have the CD. I bought my entire package deal about 4 years ago, and I noticed like a year later that I never had the CD in my boxes. I got screwed by the seller and the company. So, it is impossible to reformat my PC. The only option I have is to bring my computer to a technician and have my PC check up by someone. I rather pay like 40$ and to know after what is the problem and have them repair everything. Thanks.

hi eagle271 MY SUGGESTIONS Firstly try to install Kaspersky Antivirus(KAV) and then try to remove the virus. Don't delete the virus if it is in Windows 32 System file. If this doesn't work try to make the image of the virus file using an image making software like Ultra ISO. If that also does not work then the problem is serious and you have to format your System. Hope this works for you.
