Someone asked a question about frequency of changing cell phones, so I wondered another direction. I've been with my cell provider since 1997. Why, I get excellent customer service. I have good rates for the features I use. I get discounts on my bills. I also have my laptop air-card with Sprint. I just upgraded from 3G to 4G and love it. How long do you stay with your provider. Do you hop around, chasing the deals?
Just curious

I absolutely love your question and your discussion and couldn't help but respond. I work as a customer service rep for a cell phone company (not sprint). I would have to say I've noticed most people do hop around for the deals, savings, new phones or whatever sparks the interest at the time, however there is something to be said about loyal customers like you and even though you aren't with my company I love your loyalty to them and I can guarantee you have good experiences because of it. The people who hop around and chase deals will rarely be satisfied with any company they go to because when the deal is gone and reality kicks in they usually feel like (and let you know) it was a mistake to change. You are the ideal customer for me anyways the kind that is probably excellent to talk to and if you have an issue it is because of a real problem and not something that you have created and of course usually easy to fix. You are probably easily satisfied because you have an understanding about how things work and I like that you use data services and you haven't just stayed with them because it's familiar you are obviously advancing with the technology. I personally have been with almost every carrier and mostly cause I had bad credit and had to stick with my options. I have also worked for several cell carriers and usually go with the free or discounted cell service provided but will probably never change again. I had never dealt with loyal customers like you until my current company and really appreciate the loyalty. Another reason that people shop around is because of "bad customer service" which is usually not the case. Generally people have one bad experience, but statistically it takes 12 good experiences to make up for a bad one. Most of the time (I know there are exceptions but MOST of the time) people go with other carriers because they have done something they feel is not thier fault and want you to take impossible measures to correct and get upset when you don't. Example: going over thier minutes and getting a huge bill and not feeling like they did it or should have to pay even if there is call detail to prove. We will try to offer courtesy adjustments but even that isn't satisfactory alot of times. I think if someone has realistic expectations they would be happy at almost any cell company but unfortunately they do not always, but most of the time I think people don't get attatched to their carriers because they haven't been provided the level of service they should have been. I love when I see people who are though so I just had to say thank you from the other side of things (even if it's not with my company) your loyalty is respected and appreciated. Sorry if this answer was way long and off base but just thought you may appreciate a diferrent perspective.

Welcome to mylot and I do wish you the wonderful and exciting experience I am having.
Wow, I don't mind the length. I appreciate you taking the time to key your response. I have chills. I feel very good good that from another company. Some of the Sprint people know me and appreciate the way I attack a problem. I am loyal and say that to them. And, yes, you nailed the nail on the head. As a result, I am sure I get extra's. Again, thank you.

Who are you asking the question to? I don't know of any providers that share customers with other companies. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the internal working of cell phones can answer??
I have one provider, oh wait. I did say I had an air-card. An air-card is a separate device that plugs into my computer. I happen to have cell phone and internet with the same provider. My cell phone and laptop computer are separate accounts. I could have internet with another company. I did research and found that Sprint was the best price with the best coverage for my needs.

I apologize for not understanding your explanation. I have had no problem with satellite. They call my internet connection that goes into a USSB port on my computer an air-card in the US. I understand SIM card in cell phone. Two separate networks. I can be on cell phone and on internet at same time. In fact. I run my internet connection 24/7 as I have a program that uses my computer for processing. It is safe and pays me.

Same here. I have been with my vendor ever since I started using mobiles i.e.2002. For the past 8 years I have got real good service from them. Of course, occasionally there have been irritants, but none major enough for me to discontinue the service.
Also, amongst all cell phone providers, Airtel my provider has the best coverage in India and so I have no complaints.
Cheers!

I've been with my cell phone company for about 8 years...signed up with them around the time I met my husband. I stick with them because the features they offer suits my communication needs and I get good service. My oldest daughter and her fiance have Sprint but their coverage is not very good in this area so I have problems talking to her on her cell...even when she's home, which is right nextdoor. The really sick part is that I have Nextel and they're the same company now! Not the same networks though.

Well, I don't have one of them phones where I have a plan.. I have a prepaid with Tracfone. But I - Like you have been loyal to them. I have the same phone # that I started with about 6 years ago- Although I have upgraded my phone a couple of times.
I do like some of the services and deals that the "regular" cell phone providers offer. But I rarely use my phone for calls -let alone all that other stuff. to me this is just an unnecessary expense.
And As I have lived without it for this long. _ I think I can continue to do so.
For me Tracfone has great service.. I have never been in an area were I don't have service. There customer service is generally okay if you can understand the people that answer the phone. lol
For this time in my life and with my limited funds for expenses, this plan is perfect and I see no reason to change.

I got my first "mobile phone" when I rented a small room for my new business. I did not have a landline installed, did not know how long I would be in that office. That mobile phone was a monster in a carry bag. I used my cell phone so my customers could reach me out of the office. My business is closed now, my husband and I use our cells to call each other. We forward our home phone to the cell when we live the house. Although we don't use all the features and therefore do not update phones that frequently I suspect we will keep our cells for a while longer.
I have heard lots of compliments about Tracfone.

I have been with T-mobile for about two and half years now and I think it is pretty decent. I think my husband and I will stay with it as the customer service is not terrible and we got a decent plan.

I love your icon. Tigers are so beautiful. I am so glad you found a company that you are happy with. I don't know what company the lady above works for, however, she had some excellent ideas. I also felt very appreciated.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond to this discussion.
