Hi guys! So one of the mice I rescued has dry, itchy skin. Does anyone know of any home remedies I can use to make her more comfortable? Any that work for people or other animals that may work for a mouse? *It'll be at least a couple weeks before I'd be able to take her to a vet* Thanks

Be careful there Lily, that your mouse does not have mites. It will infect all the other mice you have, and it is not uncommon. There is one mite in particular that lives under the skin and causes problems. I suggest you at least go to a pet store and look for something that would be suitable to help stop the itching, or even an anti-mite treatment. There could be many reasons for this reaction but it really is best to try hard and get to a vet for it to be checked out.

Awww, that's good, I hope you get to do that, poor little thing. I know when I have dry skin it drives me up a wall, so I can imagine how that little bugger feels. And he can't go to the medicine cabinet and get some lotion! If it's mites, he'll have you change the bedding too, and clean everything really good. It might be allergies too, you never know until the vet looks at it and determines what's wrong. You're a good Mama, haha.\ Couldn't you ask the zoo for a suggestion?

i did ask a keeper at the zoo, she said fish oil on her food-but i don't have fish oil here. I'm house/pet sitting for a friend. Thank you Kash

I just read in birds and blooms magazine that putting out moth balls for pests works in the yard for birds as they rub on them for the pests they get in their feathers. Just might work for a mouse? Try one and see if the mouses rub on it and let me know :) hugs, quita

Not sure I have any moth balls where I'm staying right now, but that's interesting! I've never heard that before!! I'm actually taking the mouse to the vet in a couple hours, hopefully they will be able to tell me what's wrong with her and give me a surefire way to help her out! But I'm worried it'll be something serious (I mention details in my Vet Visits discussion) and they'll recommend putting her to sleep because she's old and it'd be more humane for her Keep your fingers crossed for me please! I'll let you all know what the vet says! Thank you
