How do you live without A/C during this hot summer day?

A friend of mine told me that his house never turn on the A/C for this summer, I just scratched my head, and ask him, how can you survive under such hot weather, even with the fan. That is totally impossible for me, because it is more like 95 degrees every single day. Even with the fan on, I still sweating within room temperature, especially during the afternoon. I just don't see how he gonna survive it. I understood that he might want to save some money, and I admire his endurance for such heat.

I can take the heat, but my husband is not that well, so we have been keeping the windows opening and airing the house. We had the air conditioner in the back lawn while the patio was being done and during that time it got up to 90 degrees. It did not bother me that much, but we had to keep the blinds closed for a lot of the time and we had to borrow our friend's fan.

I feel you on this. I heard a lady on the news the other day talk about her A/C going out. She said she just turned all the lights out, put a couple of box fans on, and she drank plenty of water. Some people have no choice of not having A/C on.

I actually don't mind the eat and enjoy it quite a bit. The problem I have with heat is sleeping. I can never sleep in the heat because I have problems breathing.

Sometimes I wonder myself! But it is a matter of getting used to. On weekdays, I'm at work where it is airconditioned. When I get home or on weekends, we're usually at the water park, or under a shade which is cool. It isn't that bad at night, specially with the fan on and the windows open. And of course when I look at the electricity bills it makes it all worth it.

I open all the money, if it get too hot I'll turn on the fan but usually it's not really the heat that's the problem here. Some summers ago we had over 25 during the day and sun for several weeks, then I had to sleep with the fan on but this summer I don't think it'll be a problem. It's been cold since before Christmas! Norway isn't really known for warm, sunny summers, I suppose if I really missed them I would move somewhere else :-)

I also turn mine off before I go to sleep, but I do turn it back on when I get back in the early evening. So I do it by surviving in public building who have a/c. Get back when it's cool. Problem is we have some evenings that are still over one hundred degrees after eight PM.

We've been having to live without the air conditoner because the house we moved into doesn't have central air. The only way around it is window air conditioners or fans. It's not so bad, most of the time. However, when I'm at work, I go back and forth between having my window down and using the air conditioner. I can't use the air conditioner to much because it causes my temperature gauge to go up. It's something to do with my radiator fan. My dad is going to look at it later this week to see what the problem is. I just go back and forther between bliss and sorta bliss. It was terrible today. I felt roasted and toasted.

I grew up without air conditioning so I can usually handle it. I just stay relaxed and keep the ceiling fan on. If all the ceiling fans are on in the house then I'm ok. I also will take a shower before bed to cool myself down and be able to relax. To be honest air conditioning can actually get me sick if I'm in it to much. So I really prefer not having it. In fact when I go into an air conditioned place I usually have to bring a sweater because if I don't I will freeze.

Ahh, I'm engoy our pretty perfect climate here in Dandong, Liaoning Province, China!! The temperature is around 25 degree centigrade these days. I feel quite comfortable when wearing silk or gauze clothing. I don't need air conditioners at all. Do you envy me?

hi swetashah, for us the summer was gone, but we have suffered a lot in these summer due to high temperature, year by year the temperature is raising ,due to that we are feeling very very hot,due to financial position how many persons can use the Airconditioners, the regular and common people will use fans and air coolers,we have only fans, when comparing with ac fan is negligible, but we spent summer, now the season was changed ,happy mylotting
