I was watching "Reporters notebook" earlier and was shocked to find out that such an island did not even have electricity, hospital, and everything else. Although we do have a lot of those in mindanao and other provinces, they still have access to hospital by going out of their way and hiking mountains. But the people at Fuga are on an island. God bless GMA and reporters notebook for heading such a noble a charity mission.

I saw that too. We always watch Power Review because they have good documentary shows. I was surprised by their circumstances too. It was so hard to get to the place and they seem to have been forsaken by the government and remembered only during elections. That show was made in 2005, I wonder if there has been any follow-ups made and whether the local government has done anything for them after having been shamed by a show. Did you also feel that the alleged owners were hiding something? Why did they prevent Channel 7 from bringing help even if they had already given permission to another channel? Decades ago I went to Dinagat Island, an island just in front of Surigao City. We went to the last municipality of that island and it took us half day just to get there. They got power from a generator and the people were farmers and fisherman. There was just one paved road that ran the length of the town and only two four-wheel vehicle in town and the rest were unregistered motorbikes. But at least they had a hospital there and a local government unit. At that time I thought that was the poorest town I have ever been, but I guess I am wrong.

Its nice to see a fellow sympathizer. The place is really in a bad shape and the government has forgotten about them. The curious part is the fact that the mayor said that they spent 600k pesos on a generator and some stuff. When "Power review" checked, there is a generator but is owned by the captain. How can a captain own such an expensive equipment? Also, why didn't the mayor inspect where the expensive equipment went to? Very curious. and thats where our taxes goes to. lol. Its either some one is lying or someone is very negligent with their work. I hope they could be disciplined soon for the sake of those who need it.
