How to make a Fun and Meaningful Wedding Reception

I attended the wedding of a very dear friend, a lady I consider to be one of my very best friends, yesterday. The reception was held in a lovely venue but the layout probably wasn't the best. There will be weddings in the family in the coming months, and even mine in a year, and my friends and I were talking about what in the reception we would like to copy and what we'd like to improve on. The seating/table layout versus the 'stage' is an important thing to consider, in my opinion. I would want all my guests to be "in" on all the fun.
Do you do the same at events you attend? Do you also consider what you can adapt to your own events and such?
Any suggestions on how to make wedding receptions a happy and fun event both for the couple and the guests?
Thanks in advance for your responses!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I understand budgeting is certainly a factor as you will not want to start your future with a huge burden of a wedding expense.
I would certainly set aside plenty of dance room space and maybe have some kind of dance show where everyone can join in on the fun. Dancing at weddings is always a hit.
Hope this helps

I'd have to agree with you there. People always seem to loosen up nicely when there's dancing involved. The wedding I just attended had some dancing, the cousins of the groom really prepared a fun dance for the couple and then everyone joined in after. Thanks for your suggestion! :)

You are very welcome and remember it is your wedding you put it out there your way and make sure you do not over work yourself, easier said then done. Above all make sure you, the bride has the most fun than anyone attending..
Good luck and Blessing on your upcoming marriage!

Wedding is once in a lifetime.and everyone want to have
a fun and unforgetable wedding in their life.
From my point of view, having a fun and meaningful wedding reception
can be done at the seaview area. Whereby the view is so nice and I believe
it will be the most prettiest wedding for the couple too.
I saw from Tv "The Bachelor" program and saw this couple having their wedding nearby the sea side. How nice is it...so romantic and meaningful.
How I wish my wedding will be like them too.
I have a simple wedding ceremony. Only invited some close relatives and have dinner
at restaurant. That is the most normal wedding ceremony.
SO far,I have not attended any special wedding celebration.

Hmm a beach wedding would be nice, or even just the reception. I'm afraid that might be way out of my budget, but we'll see... I've seen a couple get married at a resort and there were maybe about twenty or so guests only. If we could trim down our guest list, maybe it will work :)
Normal, as you say, are good and special too. I'd most likely have a normal one too, but I also want to make the experience special. So it's a special wedding, minus the enormous cost :)
Thanks for responding!

Wow congratulations to you!! I certainly dont have any idea about wedding reception. Because I would always see weddings as has something to offer with their guests. Whether the events is not that cozy I would like them seeing that way. A lot of different ideas posted in the magazines and even on the internet. But there will be no other enjoyable than your own weeding right. So I would not wonder why you want to make it more enjoyable and the best one. I hope there is something I could share however, I am empty vessel when it comes to that kind events. Anyways congratulations...

Thank you anyway for leaving a comment :) I agree that it don't matter how the progam goes, it will always be special for the couple getting married. Since I will be asking people important to us to take part in the wedding, I want it to be memorable for them too :)

Wedding reception can be very meaningful without being costly. First, if I may suggest the theme would be a crucial point to think and decide on. For e.g. if you are planning a beach wedding, then you should probably keep your program close to nature.. like having a beach games for the couple and some guests which could be a lot of fun.
