I have never been to Indonesia before but I have a facebook friend that lives there. The Republic of Indonesia is located in the Malay Archipelago, the world's largest archipelago, between Indochina and Australia, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the most populous Muslim-majority nation in the world and the fourth most populous overall. Indonesia is culturally diverse and is home to hundreds of forms of music, with those from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali being the most frequently recorded. The best-known traditional music from central/east Java and Bali is the Gamelan. A very popular modern style of music is the Dangdut, with the accompanying dance style. It is so popular that many political rallies have Dangdut performances to attract a larger audience.

I've met a lot of online friends from there in the last 3 - 4 years. And I know bits and pieces about it. What would you like to tell people about Indonesia. Where in Indonesia are you from?

When I was on my trip around the world I visited Indonesia. By the time I got there I was 21 years old. I traveled to the island of Sumatra by sea from Singapore and then I traveled on to Malaysia by sea. I found the town of Butikkingi delightful and I very much enjoyed seeing the architecture. I traveled by bus stopping off at the Equator which was fascinating. Reaching lake Toba I found it really scenic. The highlight was seeing orangutans in the wild. One day I would like to visit a few other islands in Indonesia. I found it a cheap destination and I imagine it is still a reasonably priced destination. Islam is the religion in Sumatra. I know the Hindus live on the island of Bali. I have seen some beautiful photos of Jakarta.

Yes, I certainly know Indonesia. I have been there a number of times on business trips. Indonesia is indeed an island country in Southeast Asia, with many many islands. I was in Java and Sumatra Islands, and had the chance to visit places of attraction. The city of Jakarta is very impressive. The City of Surabaya on the northern sea-coast of Java Island is stunningly beautiful. I was so fortunate to heve the chance to visit Boro Bodor temple, one of the largest temples in the Buddhist world.

Hi,
Indonesia...Yes,it is my country.
I am from Indonesia,exactly from North sumatera(medan).
We have 27 provinces in Indonesia.not to forget there are plenty of nice island
in Indonesia.
At my hometown, there is Lake Toba and Brastagi. Both of them are tourist
spots.
I love go to Brastagi, nice weather and very cooking there.
There are plenty of villas at Brastagi and also have a hotel for
accomodation.
There is also a theme park for kids to play around.
Indonesia has a large population and I hope I will have chance to travel
around Indonesia one day.

We're neighbors. I am from the Philippines. I have always wanted to backpack Indonesia solo but I was dissuaded by my friends. They say its dangerous for a girl to travel alone. They advised me to stay in the capital But that's no fun for me. I want to go diving and climbing. I have seen great photos of your country. Do you think a lady can travel around Indonesia safely and without getting harassed?
